WWE: The Fiend and Alexa Bliss poised for major impact on Raw
The Fiend and Alexa Bliss are positioned to become central figures as they terrorize Monday Night Raw each week.
Characters are the driving force behind much of professional wrestling. There was a time months ago when the Fiend was the most compelling character WWE presented to fans in years. Fast forward to a trip to Saudi Arabia and a Goldberg spear later, the Fiend was badly damaged through questionable booking. Yet, his presence on Monday Night Raw with Alexa Bliss places them both in a position return to the top of the roster as major attractions for the WWE.
On Monday, the show opened with Bliss and the Fiend taking center stage as the latter destroyed RETRIBUTION by himself. Later, in the evening the Firefly Fun House was back, giving fans another look at the duo. There is a strong level of interest in what the future holds for Bliss and Bray Wyatt, but the question should be whether WWE Creative can pull off compelling content with them.
One of the initial issues with Wyatt’s early run as the Fiend is that he was hot shotted into the title picture. As a character, the Fiend should have been interested in only sowing havoc across the show. Unfortunately, that was not the way he was booked which led to the situation with him taking that abysmal pin from Goldberg. From that point, through the angle with Braun Strowman – the luster was completely loss from this character. That was until the pairing with Bliss brought back questions about what is going to happen next? And that is what keeps viewers turning in week after week.
Now, the move over to Raw comes at the right time. In many ways, this can be a reset for both Wyatt and Bliss. Monday’s show started with him asserting himself as force on the show, decimating four men on his own as the Hurt Business looked on. While this does not help RETRIBUTION at all, Bliss and Wyatt assert themselves as main event acts without having to get involved with the Randy Orton versus Drew McIntyre storyline.
The question is what is next for this duo? The answer is anything. The Fiend and Bliss do not have to be pigeon-holed into the “Heel versus Face” dynamic. Wyatt can terrorize anyone on that roster and make it look like he is doing nothing more than playing with his new “friends.” All the while, Bliss is assisting him in that carnage while reminding the women’s division that they are not safe. Bliss is one of the most protected women on the WWE roster and having her in this position can help elevate that division when it is time for her to focus on the title. Imagine the imagery of Bliss being the champion with the Fiend doing her bidding. That is something different that would be a breath of fresh air for WWE television.
There is not a lot to look forward to each week with the WWE. Fans should be apprehensive when they see something interesting out of fear that WWE Creative will mess things up. For the time being, the Fiend and Alexa Bliss are a new angle that can go several captivating ways. Enjoy that as they are poised for what should amount to a major run on the red brand.
