WWE NXT Halloween Havoc: 3 wrestlers who need to win

My final pitch for WWE NXT’s Halloween Havoc is for Candice LeRae to beat Io Shirai to become the new NXT Women’s champion.

The Candice LeRae of NXT was a far cry from the Candice LeRae of the indie days, back when both she and her husband were babyfaces. She was a beloved character, but she was just lovely Johnny’s lovely wife who always stood by him, she was not the badass who kicked men’s ass on a weekly basis and performed in hardcore matches on the indies.

That has all changed now.

LeRae has been a great heel alongside Gargano and their evil couple gimmick is working wonders for them both. Many people want to see them become the “married champs” in NXT.

This pitch essentially has two reasons.

One is that LeRae has been doing great work and to be honest, she deserves the title. She’s great in the ring, she has that hardcore side that she can unleash once she becomes the champion. Actually, the “Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal” would be a great way to add that new dimension to LeRae’s character.

And quite frankly, if LeRae loses this time, she would lose all her credibility as a challenger for the title, and with the women’s title scene getting crowded with Toni Storm and Ember Moon returning, she would soon vanish from the scene, so now is the time to put the belt on her.

The second reason concerns the current champion, Io Shirai. Io Shirai is hands down one of the best in-ring performers in the world regardless of gender, and she’s been a great champion. She’s brought the title back into prominence after taking the belt from Charlotte.

However, she’s done everything there is to do in NXT and it’s time for her to move on.

She should debut on the main roster and bolster the ranks of RAW and SmackDown’s women’s divisions. She can have legendary feuds with the likes of Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and of course, Asuka.

Also, this title change opens a lot of doors. Gargano could win the North American title and the Garganos could have their own reigns of terror. Or if you don’t want to have Damian Priest lose his belt, you could’ve Johnny be the sidekick for his wife and play the role that she played for him in his rise to the top.

Most of all, the mixed tag matches have been and would continue to be sensational.
