Rey Mysterio has not wrestled since Payback due to a triceps injury, but he could return to WWE television soon.

The Mysterio Family, Seth Rollins, and Murphy storyline will not end after the WWE Draft, as all the members involved were drafted onto SmackDown from Raw. Perhaps we could see the storyline wrap up not long after Hell in a Cell, but it’s anyone’s guess as to when Rey Mysterio, Rollins, and the rest of the crew will be up to something else.

We haven’t seen Rey wrestle in some time now, as he partially tore his triceps muscle. Mysterio suffered the injury at Payback and was initially expected to miss four to six weeks, so he’s been out for a little longer than expected while recovering.

According to a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, via WrestlingNews.Co’s Andrew Ravens, Rey Mysterio is expected to return to WWE TV “any time now”.

Would Rey Mysterio have a match at WWE Hell in a Cell?

SmackDown would get a major boost from having Rey back, and if he were to return on the episode of the Blue Brand before Hell in a Cell, maybe he could even wrestle at the Pay Per View. It certainly feels weird not having a star as big as Rollins, who was one of SmackDown’s top picks in the draft, booked for the Hell in a Cell PPV.

It will be awesome to see Mysterio back in the ring again, and it’s always good to hear a positive injury update. Hopefully, he’s recovered fully now and WWE are simply waiting for the right time to bring him back to TV as they look to wrap up this long-running storyline.
