Who will battle Roman Reigns for the coveted Universal Championship at WWE WrestleMania 37?

WWE WrestleMania 37! Universal Champion Roman Reigns! This has the main event of WrestleMania written all over it. However, the bigger question is: WHO will be squaring off in that main event with the Big Dog? The following will provide five possible opponents for Roman Reigns on the grandest stage of them all.

5.) Keith Lee

Keith Lee and Roman Reigns have unfinished business from WWE Survivor Series 2019. During the Men’s Survivor Series Match, they were the final two survivors in the ring until Reigns prevailed against Lee to give SmackDown the victory in what was an epic encounter. After Lee received this ‘rub’, there was a fist pump exchange as a sign of respect between these superstars.

Lee needs to get a win back at some point. Although he’s on Raw and Reigns is on SmackDown, winning the Royal Rumble and selecting Reigns as his opponent for WrestleMania 37 would allow Lee to move to SmackDown and challenge for the Universal Championship. More importantly, defeating Reigns would solidify Lee’s main event spot on the main roster.

4.) ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns have unfinished business from WWE Payback 2020. During that triple threat title match, Reigns pinned Strowman to win the Universal Championship, ending Wyatt’s title reign in one week. Considering that Wyatt was the champion going into the match, he was never pinned to lose the championship.

Wyatt will want his revenge at some point. Although he’s on Raw and Reigns is on SmackDown, winning the Royal Rumble and selecting Reigns as his opponent for WrestleMania 37 would allow Wyatt to move back to SmackDown and challenge for the Universal Championship. This is where Reigns should finally end The Fiend, so that Wyatt can try something new.

3.) Big E

Quite frankly, Big E needs to solidify his main event singles push with a victory over Reigns. Big E is undoubtedly the top babyface on SmackDown. Defeating the top heel in Reigns would be huge for his career and well-deserved after his many years of marquee matches, amusing promos, and just being Big E. Wait, just being Big E?

Well, there have been debates on Talking Smack and elsewhere about whether Big E needs to be more ‘serious’ to be considered a main event superstar. However, Big E does not have to be as one-dimensional as the past formulaic faces of the company. Big E should be free to be himself because that is what got him ‘over’ all along.

2.) Brock Lesnar

Paul Heyman joined Roman Reigns? Will Brock Lesnar be happy about that? Considering Brock and Reigns’ historic rivalry in the past five years, there could be a ‘Paul Heyman Guy’ War on WWE’s hands, come WrestleMania 37. A passing of the torch moment could be in store here to establish Reigns as the sole, official Paul Heyman Guy.

No one should expect Lesnar to return and be friendly with Reigns just because they have the same advocate. Lesnar would want all of Heyman’s attention and Reigns would want the same. Since Lesnar has accomplished everything possible in the WWE, this would be an ideal time to pass the torch to the only other superstar who defeated Undertaker at WrestleMania.

1.) The Rock

As teased in his current feud with Jey Uso, the Bloodline storyline would come to fruition if Reigns battled the Tribal Chef, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Tribal Chef? Indeed, Reigns will have to smell what The Rock is cooking at some point. Since WrestleMania 37 could still be in Hollywood as initially planned, it would make sense for The Rock to show up.

Next. Roman Reigns vs. The Rock Might Not Happen?. dark

This dream match has been rumored for years, and it has been a focused rumor for this year’s WrestleMania. Since Reigns has always been a babyface and The Rock has always been returning as a babyface, it seems that match was always stalled to avoid any dilemmas babyface-heel dynamics. Now that Reigns is a heel, the story writes itself.
