WWE Hell in a Cell 2020 Results, Grades, and Analysis
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jey Uso for the Universal Championship inside WWE Hell in a Cell, “I Quit” match
Result: Jey Uso quits to save Jimmy Uso
Grade: A+, another one of the best matches you’ll see. Jey Uso only said “I Quit” when Jimmy Uso was in danger. The acting from Roman Reigns in this match. Oscar-worthy.
Now THIS is the story that’s had us hooked for the past month. Roman Reigns and Jey Uso told one of the best stories in recent memory at the last Pay Per View, Clash of Champions, and now they have an “I Quit” match inside the cell. The consequences if Jey quits? He is out of the family. Reigns has definitely delivered on his promise to make this match the highest-stakes match imaginable.
Early in the match, Roman hit a Spear after the two men traded trash-talk and offense using the cell. That was a message to Jey of the punishment yet to come. And just like that, a few minutes later, he hit an even bigger spear that Jey sold like hell!
The best was yet to come, of course. Paul Heyman pulled out his iconic shocked face when Jey brought out a leather strap and started beating Reigns with it. But he only got a few shots on there before Reigns hit Jey with a THIRD spear.
So now…gulp…the Tribal Chief had the strap…
After some more back-and-forth action, Jey managed to get the trap around Reigns in a tense submission spot, and for a second, it looked like Roman had passed out!
But Reigns eventually got up, countered an attempted steel chair shot with a Superman Punch, and locked in the guillotine choke onto Jey! Heyman was begging Jey to quit, but, like Roman, Jey would not other the words despite barely being conscious.
Roman kept warning Jey that if he wouldn’t quit, he would take things to the “next level”. Given how brutal the match had already been to that point, that was a scary proposition indeed.
And once again, Reigns stayed true to his word. He wedged Jey’s head between the ring post and the steel steps and dropkicked the steps onto Jey! My goodness!
Reigns tossed the ref out of the ring in frustration, and that led to other referees and officals coming into the cell to beg Reigns to stop.
So what did Reigns do? He closed the cage and threw the steel steps at the producers so they’d leave him and Jey alone in the ring again!
Just as Roman was going to smash the steel steps onto Jey’s prone body, Jimmy Uso jumped in to make the save!
It seemed like Jimmy had talked Roman out of it, because Reigns started crying at what he had done. But then, Roman locked Jimmy into a guillotine before Jey finally quit to end the match when he saw his injured brother locked into the guillotine.
