WWE Hell in a Cell 2020 Results, Grades, and Analysis
Bayley (c) vs. Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women’s Championship inside WWE Hell in a Cell
Result: Sasha Banks wins with the Bank Statement and THE steel chair
Grade: A+, how do you top this match? How? Sasha is the SmackDown Women’s Champion for the first time in her career. This match was greatness.
The match began with Bayley’s steel chair flying out of the ring, taking away any early advantage she may have had, but also symbolizing so much more. Since Bayley’s brutal attack on Sasha that started this rivalry, she has carried that chair wherever she’s gone.
Banks got the Bank Statement locked in the middle of the ring early! Bayley was able to bite her way out of the hold!
Sasha’s Meteoras are awesome! Exhibit A? The Meteora into the cell! Tremendous spot!
I love creative spots that use the Hell in a Cell stipulation, and Bayley had one of those. She literally weaved the kendo sticks into the cell and the steel steps, then catapulted Sasha into them!
Although Sasha had the advantage early, Bayley turned the tide with a nasty spot! (I mean that in a good way!) She flipped up Sasha’s head into a steel chair, then set up a steel chair precariously in the corner with the ring post. And what did she do with that chair? Hit Sasha head-first into the chair with a Sunset Flip!
Another slick transition into the Bank Statement from Sasha Banks, this time with the usual move, the Backstabber! Bayley was able to slide out of the ring and dump Sasha into the apron. You know the steel frame of the ring? Bayley hit Sasha head-first onto it and then starting laying it in with the kendo stick!
Bayley came up with another ingenious spot, taping up two kendo sticks and looping them through the ring frame and then cell. Just then, Sasha brought out the fire extinguisher! But as Bayley tried to leave the cell with less than perfect vision, she brought back her chair into the cell!
When Sasha went for the Frog Splash, Bayley blocked her with THE steel chair!
Later in the match, she set up a ladder onto two steel chairs, ready for another innovative attack on the challenger to her title. She slammed Sasha head-first onto the ladder! As Sasha was laid out on the ladder, Bayley sprayed her with spray paint, bringing out her steel chair as she ascended to the middle rope for the final move.
But she missed! And Sasha jumped up from the ladder to hit her with the Meteora! Then she used the Bayley to Belly onto the ladder on Bayley for a nearfall!
Bayley hit a Bayley to Belly of her own after a vicious knee-strike, but Sasha kicked out at two! She then tried to hit another one while using the chair…but then Sasha used her chair to lock in the Bank Statement! What a perfect finish to an incredible match!
