A member of the IMPACT wrestling roster has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

Initially reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it appears that a wrestler within IMPACT wrestling has tested positive for COVID-19. The name of the wrestler has not been disclosed at this time.

The more important aspect of the story is that, according to the observer, only select members of the roster were alerted to the positive result and advised to get tested themselves.

IMPACT Wrestling is the only promotion that has not been administering regular tests to on-screen talents even though they are one of the only promotions to not take any time off when a state of emergency was declared. Choosing instead to only require temperature checks prior to allowing talent into the building.

Several talents who were not initially told found out through lockerroom gossip and are, according to the wrestling observer, “hot” with management about the choice to keep the positive result to themselves.

This news could not have come at a worse time for the promotion as they have just begun an ambitious multi-week Knockouts tag tournament.

The tournament includes both internal talents and independent stars like the current Shimmer Women’s Athletes Tag Team Champions the Sea Stars. As well as returning legends, like former Knockout’s Champion Jordynne Grace’s tag team partner, the former NWA Women’s Champion Jazz.

The tournament, which is taking place two matches a week on their weekly television program leading up to the unveiling of the titles and the finals of the tournament at their first Pay Per View offering of 2021, Hard To Kill.
