Almost every WWE fan has said the phrase, “they deserve much better,” at least once. Sadly, some of the best to do it never reach their full potential.

It’s no surprise in a company like WWE that some superstars would be overlooked and caught up in the massive amount of talent. However, some of these stars were overlooked more than others. Some talents in WWE history were never able to make it to the top of the mountain. Although, they had more than enough talent to do so.

It’s hard to look back at some of your personal favorites that never were fully given their due. The five superstars selected for this match were some of the most impressive stars to ever step into a WWE ring. However, for some reason, size, backstage politics, or simply the lack of belief from one man kept these superstars from reaching their full potential in WWE.

10. Layla El

Before there was The IIconics, there was LayCool and they were flawless. Alongside her “bestie” Michelle McCool, Layla was one of the most entertaining parts of the diva’s division. She first made her name by winning the 2006 Diva Search competition. In the early days of her run with WWE, she struggled to find her spot. She notably was apart of ECW’s Extreme Expose alongside Brooke Adams and Kelly Kelly.

She would also manage William Regal, who we will get to, for a short time period. However, Layla was finally able to shine when she aligned with Michelle McCool. The tandem known as LayCool were a staple of SmackDown from 2009 to 2011. During her time in LayCool, Layla won the original Women’s Championship that would be replaced with the Diva’s Championship.

After LayCool split, Layla continued to work as a single competitor and would go on to win the Diva’s Championship as well. In 2015, Layla announced her sudden retirement from wrestling. Unlike many other wrestlers who’ve retired, Layla hasn’t wrestled ever since. Layla wasn’t expected to do anything great in WWE but she was determined to make her name. If she had been given more opportunities, Layla could have been something special.
