WWE Royal Rumble 2021: 4 possible opponents for Roman Reigns

OK, OK, let me start this one off by saying that I do not want Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns under any circumstances. I didn’t really care for it as a possible WrestleMania 36 match, especially since Goldberg’s promos were embarrassingly bad, but I tolerated the prospect of the bout since it was all to put over Reigns as the rightful Universal Champion.

But Reigns is the Universal Champ now. He doesn’t need to face Goldberg. More than anything, Goldberg is the one who needs to face him, because he needs to be in segments and in the ring with Reigns, who is the only person capable of vaulting Goldberg to relevancy again. Goldberg has pretty much destroyed any of the goodwill he gained with his WrestleMania 33 send-off against Brock Lesnar by putting on horrible matches, cutting mind-numbingly atrocious promos, and taking the title off the Fiend in the first place.

Unfortunately, it seems like Vince McMahon is hell-bent on giving us Goldberg vs. Reigns, and when Vince is set on something, it’s hard to get the stubborn promoter to change his mind.

So if we HAVE to get Goldberg vs. Reigns, I would much rather see this match at WWE Royal Rumble 2021 than at WrestleMania 37. There are bigger matches to be had at WrestleMania for Reigns, and I don’t think Goldberg is the right guy for ‘Mania. But if we have to do this match, let’s just get it out of the way at the Royal Rumble.
