WWE has produced some great moments over the years. However, some of those moments were a bit more shocking than others.
WWE is a company that has been around far longer than I have been. For most of my life, they have been a part of it. There are many other people around the world older and younger than myself that can say the same thing. There is something about pro-wrestling that has brought millions of people together.
It could be the intense feuds and fights that draw you in. It could also be the microphone work that gets everybody tuning in. No matter what it is, WWE didn’t become a superstar itself overnight. Many years of hard work and dedication brought WWE to where they are today on top of the wrestling world.
Over those many years, WWE has provided many memorable moments and matches that will be cemented in history. WWE continues to try and outdo themselves every time and has shocked us fans multiple times. There are so many moments that can be considered the most shocking of all-time. Today, we cut down the list to ten.
10. Seth Rollins Cashes In At WrestleMania
The Money in the Bank briefcase has created multiple memorable moments since its inception. There have been 19 successful cash-in attempts over the years. However, out of all of the cash-in attempts, one stands above the rest. When the WWE Universe least expected it, Seth Rollins cashed in.
Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns had been through a war already when Rollins’ music hit the arena. Rollins ran to the ring like a wild man as the WWE Universe rose to their feet. Within a few minutes, Seth Rollins capitalized with a curb stomp to Reigns to become the WWE Champion for the first time.
If you loved him or hated him, no wrestling fan was quiet when Seth Rollins stood tall to close out WrestleMania 31. This was the first time that the Money in the Bank briefcase has been cashed in during a match or at WrestleMania. Rollins created a moment that will go down in WWE history. He twirled the championship proudly and this would only be the beginning for Rollins.
9. Hogan slams Andre
A moment like this has become so iconic that you can forget how shocking it truly was. Andre the Giant was booked going into his WrestleMania III match against WWF Champion Hulk Hogan as the “undefeated” giant. He was said to have never been taken off his feet, let alone be body slammed. This was a moment that was said to have been shocking for everyone involved. Even Hogan stated to have been shocked at the moment.
Hogan picked up Andre and slammed him to the mat. As Andre went down, all of the fans rose to their feet. Hogan followed up with his iconic leg drop and it was all over. The two could have had an idea of how the fans would react to the spot, but couldn’t have predicted how big how a moment that it would become. Hogan slamming Andre is a moment that still wows fans thirty-four years later.
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Hogan and many others have slammed bigger men. One of the most iconic imitations came twenty-seven years after the original when Cesaro shocked everyone by lifting the Big Show at WrestleMania 30. Years from now, people will still tell the story of Hulk slamming the giant.
