Men’s Royal Rumble Match

To me, there is only one winner for this year’s Men’s Royal Rumble match, since Big E is the Intercontinental Champion and seems more likely to dethrone Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38 than he does at WrestleMania 37.

That winner is Daniel Bryan. It’s a little remarkable that Bryan hasn’t won the Rumble yet, because he seems like the perfect person to win one. He is tenacious, experienced, and oh-so-easy to root for. Bryan is the fan favorite’s fan favorite. He commands respect with his wisdom, legendary grappling ability, and versatile promo skills. You can’t name more than five wrestlers who cut a better babyface, heel, or comedic promo than D-Bry.

Bryan isn’t the only possible Royal Rumble winner, but based on the story WWE seems to be telling, he is the most logical. Roman Reigns already has a match booked with Adam Pearce for the PPV, which took everyone by surprise, so that definitely clears the runway for Bryan to face Reigns in a dream match at WrestleMania. I know Bryan and Reigns have feuded before, but a babyface, Rumble-winning Bryan vs. THIS version of Reigns? That is a blockbuster rivalry.

And think about this, too. Paul Heyman on Talking Smack, cutting back-and-forth promos with Bryan, a man whom he respects like few others. Bryan vs. Reigns won’t just be a great WrestleMania match; it’ll be appointment television on Friday nights for weeks.

Prediction: Daniel Bryan
