The inaugural women’s tag team tournament still has some open spots and Bayley wants to fill at least one of those positions.

As one of only three women who have won the WWE SmackDown, Raw, and NXT Women’s Championships, Bayley has accomplished a great deal in her WWE career. With so much on her CV already, does she have her eyes on a new accolade?

Earlier today (literally an hour into the day), the former co-holder of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships tweeted to NXT executive producer Triple H about her desire to participate in the inaugural Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Bayley didn’t provide any more details in her tweet beyond her wanting to join the distaff field.

The company announced a women’s version of the longstanding single-elimination tournament — inspired by the Crocket Cup tag team tournaments that the NWA has recently revived — on the Dec. 6 episode of NXT.

Thus far, the still-developing bracket includes four teams: Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell (representing The Way), Kacey Catanzaro and Kayden Carter, Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon, and Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez. So, unless the company plans on sanctioning a short Cup with just a semi-final and final, they will likely add four more teams to bring the total to eight.

If Bayley entered the tournament — and that’s a big “if” — she could on her former “BayMella” bestie, Carmella, to join her in an effort to win the presumably gorgeous trophy and a likely shot at Charlotte Flair and Asuka’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships or find some other partner to team up with a random competitor.

Given that two of the announced duos are mismatched pairings, the latter option wouldn’t feel too out of place. Plus, that route could lead to a potential feud where Bayley blames this partner for failing to win the Cup, assuming they lose (or enter in the first place).

Of course, it would’ve been cool if this women’s Dusty Cup came to be when Bayley and former Tag Team Championship partner Sasha Banks still teamed together, but with that team disintegrating last fall, fans will have to wait for an eventual reunion to see that come to fruition.

But despite that, Bayley expressing her wish to take part in the NXT tournament helps boost its credibility and the interest in it.
