Impact: Matt Cardona debuts at Hard to Kill
Matt Cardona competed at Impact Wrestling Hard to Kill.
Free agency in professional wrestling is something to watch as fans always want to know who will jump ship to a new promotion. Matt Cardona made a move as he appeared at Impact Wrestling’s Hard to Kill PPV.
Cardona made his surprise appearance during the PPV when he stepped in to face off against Ace Austin in a singles match. On commentary, Matt Striker mentioned that Cardona could be a part of Impact Wrestling “for one night or the future.” His debut was a short one as the match ended in a disqualification after Madman Fulton got involved.
Cardona was one of the many names released by the WWE back in April when the promotion made cuts that helped boost the company to record-setting revenue for the year. He would appear in All Elite Wrestling, taking part in a tag match with Cody Rhodes on AEW Dynamite and an eight-man tag against the Dark Order at AEW All Out. His team was victorious in both matches. Even though he has close ties with members of leadership at AEW, he was not signed to a long-term deal.
It will be interesting to see if Cardona becomes a full-time member of the Impact Wrestling roster. His career saw some interesting runs in the WWE as Zack Ryder, but he was never pushed any higher than the mid-card, even though he is a multiple-time champion, with reigns holding the Intercontinental, United States, and Tag Team belts.
