WWE Raw is scheduled to take place on January 18, 2021, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT live on the USA Network.

On this week’s episode of WWE Raw, there is only one scheduled match: Asuka (c) vs. Alexa Bliss in a non-title match. This match was booked out of nowhere, like an RKO. Speaking of Randy Orton, will he interfere in this match or will Alexa Bliss somehow fire-bend her way to a championship opportunity?

The WWE has already kickstarted its road to WrestleMania as it builds towards the Royal Rumble. It has already announced that Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles, Randy Orton, and Mr. MITB The Miz from WWE Raw will partake in the Men’s Royal Rumble, while Nia Jax, Charlotte Flair, Mandy Rose, and Dana Brooke from WWE Raw will partake in the Women’s Royal Rumble.

The only title match that has been added thus far is Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Goldberg for the WWE Title. Other possible title matches that could be added: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Riddle for the United States Title, Asuka & Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Lacey Evans & Peyton Royce for the Women’s Tag Team Titles, and Hurt Business (c) vs. Lucha House Party for the Raw Tag Team Titles.

Since there is only one title match from the red brand scheduled for the Rumble, expect WWE to book some more title matches for the pay-per-view on this episode. With that being said, it’s now time to preview and predict the matches and segments that will occur on this week’s episode of WWE Raw, starting with Xavier Woods’ nascent singles run.

5.) Xavier Woods vs. Mace [Grudge Match]

On last week’s WWE Raw, T-Bar defeated Xavier Woods. Since Kofi Kingston reportedly has a jaw injury, he is not able to compete alongside Woods in their pursuit to win back the Raw Tag Team Championships from Hurt Business. Henceforth, the WWE has decided to implement an impromptu singles run for Woods by randomly booking him in singles matches with members of RETRIBUTION. It also doesn’t help matters that he lost his first singles match to T-Bar.

With the exception of winning the Raw Tag Team Championships, Xavier Woods’ return from his year-long Achilles injury has lacked momentum. He has lost at every PPV since returning and is now losing to a group that is not even taken seriously on WWE Raw. The WWE will very likely feed Xavier Woods to another member of RETRIBUTION. Whether it’s Mace or Slapjack, it won’t matter. Woods will lose again and that will continue to be the case until Kingston returns to action.

On the bright side, the history between Mustafa Ali and Kingston could come into play here. Kingston was the superstar who replaced Ali in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match in 2019 that led to his first WWE Championship at that year’s WrestleMania. As for Ricochet, there’s hope that he is continuing his storyline with RETRIBUTION because The New Day could actually be the team he needs to finally take down this group.

Prediction: Mace
