WWE: Dana Brooke is a bright spot on the women’s roster and should get a chance
By Amit Shukla
Dana Brooke is a powerful performer who has shown immense growth in her character and in-ring performance over the last couple of years. A fitness expert, Dana Brooke joined the WWE in 2013 as part of NXT and has risen through the ranks as she moved to Raw in May of 2016. She worked in various roles, including her time with Titus Worldwide, but the work didn’t help her raise her up the card as a singles performer.
The superstar worked her way to SmackDown, but it didn’t change her stock as a superstar, and she worked as an enhancement talent for the prominent women in the division, including NXT call-ups. The work done by Brooke was not getting her anywhere, and despite the #GiveDivasAChance movement, things didn’t look great for the performer.
What Changed for Dana Brooke in 2020?
It all changed in 2020 when she moved back to the red brand on Sept. 8, where she formed a tag team with Mandy Rose. The duo kept getting the success they deserved and defeated Natalya and Lana in the first match followed by an unsuccessful Women’s Tag Title match against then-champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.
The duo looks good as a tag team, and there is something worthwhile for them to fight for before they go their separate ways. We all know that Rose and Brooke are talented singles superstars and a match between them will be a good idea to allow both deserving superstars to showcase their skills.
While a breakup is not something instant or guaranteed, one can rest assured that Brooke and Rose will split somewhere down the line after WrestleMania. But for now, they are working well as a team. Splitting them at this moment wouldn’t be a wise decision, especially as they are trying to rise to the opportunity and could be a perfect opponent for the current Women’s Tag Team Champions.
WWE tried this with Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, but the duo hasn’t garnered the same appreciation as they did when they worked together as The IIconics. The company should not try the same thing that didn’t work in the past unless they want to put the superstars into oblivion and relegate them to a state where the superstars feel unaccepted by the management and the WWE Universe.
