Intergender wrestling is not new in the business or the WWE. While the company did have some intergender wrestling between Becky Lynch and James Ellsworth, there hasn’t been a real intergender match until this week’s SmackDown. Sasha Banks fought Reginald as a stipulation to allow for Carmella to get another title shot at the Royal Rumble.

Over on Monday Night Raw, there seems to be a growing potential for some sort of  match between Alexa Bliss and Randy Orton. The reason why this may be a reality has a lot to do with Bliss’ storyline with Orton since the latter burnt The Fiend during the closing moments of WWE TLC.

Will an Alexa Bliss – Randy Orton feud help the company?

WWE is in dire need of a storyline that can entice fans to watch the 3-hour program.  Vince and company have tried everything in the book to create a buzz amongst the WWE Universe, but it seems like their attempts fail to build long-term interest. Fans are more inclined towards the content that makes them feel happy and feels new, and an intergender wrestling match could be the right thing to do the WWE.

Bliss is a gifted performer who can play any and every role to perfection. Little Miss Bliss worked as a babyface and a heel. She also served as backstage personnel on Raw when Baron Corbin was the General Manager of Monday Nights. She has the gift of gab, and her ability to work in any role made her the perfect second to Bray Wyatt or The Fiend.

Orton, on the other hand, is in the best state of his career. The Apex Predator is putting on phenomenal matches in the ring and promos on the microphone. An intergender wrestling match between Bliss and Orton can work because it would be something different that can continue to move this storyline forward. It would keep the fans on the edge of their seats as they would anticipate a return from Bray Wyatt in his Firefly Funhouse persona or his alter ego, The Fiend.

WWE knows that the road to WrestleMania is longer than usual this year and needs to find creative ways to keep viewers coming back to the product at its most important time of the year. Setting up a calculated build for a match between Orton and Bliss would be something different that has the potential to capture the attention of fans if pulled off correctly.

A singles match between Alexa Bliss and Randy Orton is the type of opportunity that can create buzz around the Monday Night Raw product at a time when interest struggles to remain high.
