WWE: Bad Bunny to perform at Royal Rumble
Bad Bunny is set to perform at the Royal Rumble this Sunday, January 31. Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, 26 was announced as the special performance on Monday. He will perform his record “Booker T” from his most recent album El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo.
“Performing at the Royal Rumble is a childhood dream come true,” Bad Bunny said in a statement. “I have been a lifelong fan of WWE and I am excited to take the stage and entertain fans around the world.”
The song “Booker T” is inspired by the multiple-time champion and Hall-of-Fame wrestler of the same name. Booker T also appears in the music video for the track. This will be the first time that it will be performed live, even though a full audience will not be in attendance due to the ongoing global pandemic. The video has been streamed nearly 40 million times on YouTube.
“Bad Bunny is at the top of the music industry, and a pop culture icon with strong ties to WWE and our fans around the world,” said Neil Lawi, senior vice president and general manager, WWE Music Group. “We are thrilled to provide a global platform for his first-ever live performance of ‘Booker T’ as we kick off the road to WrestleMania.”
Bad Bunny is one of the fastest-rising acts in music today. In just five years his music has jettisoned him to the top of multiple music charts, and he has been nominated for multiple awards across the Billboard, Grammy, BET and other organizations in the industry. In 2020 he became the first non-English speaking artist to be the most streamed by Spotify.
The Royal Rumble is set to occur on the WWE Network and held in the ThunderDome, kicking off the lead into WrestleMania.
