WWE’s women’s division continues to evolve, and this is thanks to the immense focus on women’s wrestling over the recent years, due to a variety of driving forces, including fans wanting (and pushing WWE management for) more from female superstars. This has led to the company producing some of the most stellar women’s bouts in the company’s history.

It would be a lie to say that it wasn’t challenging to narrow down the best WWE Women’s matches in the last five years to just five; however, below are my picks. They are certainly not ranked, but a compilation that highlights the top five women’s bouts from 2016 to now.

Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch- WWE Women’s Championship; WrestleMania 32

There was a lot at stake in this high-profile WrestleMania bout. The powers that be finally realized the value in scrapping the WWE Divas Title and ushering a new era in women’s wrestling, as this match determined who would be crowned the inaugural WWE Women’s Champion (different lineage from the original Women’s Title). The title was unveiled that night by WWE Hall of Famer, Lita, and it was beautiful. It became the holy grail for women’s wrestling moving forward in all its shine, twinkle, and glory.

With Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch debuting in 2015, this was the ladies’ first time on the Mania stage, and the first time to truly prove to a mass WWE audience why there was such fanfare surrounding their arrival. Simply put, the ladies killed it, and for years after, fans continue to speculate as to why the three did not close the event that year.

Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch- Last Woman Standing, WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship; Evolution

Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch had incredible chemistry together, whether they were on the same side during a storyline, or at opposite ends of the ring. While their “besties” angle, circa 2017 was a fun one, many fans could argue that their feud in 2018 blew everything out of the water. Thanks to the BFFs splitting up at the 2018 SummerSlam event, The Man was born, and a massive momentum (and connection) was formed between Lynch and the WWE Universe, one that would even impress “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

After weeks of feuding with Lynch in the fall of 2018 — and weeks of Charlotte trying to recapture her SmackDown Women’s Title — Flair was given another championship match against Becks at the first-ever all-female WWE pay-per-view, Evolution. It was a hard-fought, intense Last Woman Standing match, with some incredible storytelling, and when all was said and done, The Man defeated The Queen once again.
