WWE: Lars Sullivan released from WWE
Lars Sullivan has been released by the WWE.
Multiple outlets are reporting that Lars Sullivan has been released from the WWE. The news was first reported by PWInsider. WWE has not officially confirmed the release, as Lars is still listed on the WWE.com superstars page under the SmackDown brand.
Sullivan last appeared on WWE television during the October 23 edition of WWE SmackDown where he defeated Shorty G (Chad Gable) in a two-minute squash match. Since moving over to the blue brand during the 2020 WWE Draft, it seemed like Sullivan was slated for a push as a monster heel. He was quietly removed from television and was not seen again until the news of his release broke on Tuesday.
Sullivan had a troubled run within the WWE, as he was frequently presented as the next up in the promotion’s long line of highly promoted big men, but out-of-the-ring issues seemed to keep him from being elevated. In 2019 he was accused of posting multiple racist, sexist, homophobic, and other offensive posts across online forums. WWE held him accountable for the offensive posts, fining the performer $100k for the comments.
Majority of Sullivan’s WWE tenure was a part of the NXT brand where he picked up big wins over the likes of Keith Lee, Velveteen Dream, Dominick Dijakovic, EC3, and Tyler Breeze. He was moved to the main roster in 2019 and would have only five matches in two years before being released by the promotion.
