Edge is “The Ultimate Opportunist”, but he may be the ultimate moment creator, too, as his entry at the number one and victory in the Royal Rumble proved. “The Rated R Superstar” lasted an hour and 32 seconds and eliminated three opponents en route to winning his second Rumble.

It is undeniable that Edge hasn’t lost a beat since returning to the ring last year and can still take on any superstar of his choice and create a memorable moment with them. The big question remains if he will go with the expected opponent or swerve everyone going after a different title.

Edge won the Royal Rumble match to help further many storylines

Edge teamed up with his former tag team partner and real-life friend Christian during the Royal Rumble match. It is seemingly possible that Edge will pick Drew McIntyre as his opponent at WrestleMania. Members of the WWE Universe would root for a Roman Reigns vs Edge match or a spear vs spear match. It does make some feel good, but a feud between Edge and Reigns is not helping anyone. Reigns has a storyline going on for him on SmackDown, and adding Edge isn’t the next step that’s needed at this moment.

Here’s how we think the story will happen:

Edge already has his eyes set on the WWE Champion, but he will wait patiently to see what happens between Sheamus and McIntyre. The Celtic Warrior hit a Brogue Kick on The Scottish Pschyopath during this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, and this story will serve the fans well as this filler feud until WrestleMania.

All the while, Edge and McIntyre can continue to keep their eye on each other. You also can’t take your eye off of the Miz who has the Money in the Bank briefcase. He can interject himself at any moment and attempt to catch either Edge or McIntyre off guard.

It will ensure that all necessary checks are in place as McIntyre will be a champion for a long time while Edge would have fought in two matches through the year and satisfy his contractual obligations. The Miz, on the other hand, will end his run as the Money In The Bank briefcase winner and help John Morrison rise to the occasion as The Shaman Of Sexy has not got an opportunity to showcase his skills as a superstar since returning to the WWE.
