WWE: Which brand will Rhea Ripley end up on?
Rhea Ripley was one of the standouts of this year’s Royal Rumble, as she and Bianca Belair were the last two women standing. In the end, Belair prevailed – and was the right choice – but it was a close battle between two of WWE‘s most promising stars. Both women have what it takes to be multi-time champions and major players in this industry.
Belair has already been a member of the SmackDown roster since being a first-round selection in the most recent draft. Her Rumble win has enabled her to punch her ticket to WrestleMania 37, where she and Sasha Banks should main event the show for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
But what’s next for Rhea Ripley?
According to a report from PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson, Rhea Ripley has indeed been called up to the WWE main roster, which they initially reported would be the case for both her and fellow NXT star Damian Priest. We saw Priest appear on Raw and get a huge rub from world-class rapper Bad Bunny, but Ripley did not make an appearance.
WWE Raw is the best option for Rhea Ripley
Johnson reports that Ripley could still show up on Raw in the future, because WWE have not decided which brand she’ll be on yet. He adds that Ripley isn’t currently scheduled for Friday Night SmackDown this week either.
Either brand could work as a fit for Ripley. She’s an excellent wrestler who could add a lot to either show, and there are possible feuds for her on either brand.
But if it were up to me, I would absolutely move her to the Red Brand. The three-hour show has shown signs of improvement, though it is still a bit of a drag. And the Raw Women’s Division could use some more star power, in addition to Charlotte Flair, Naomi, and champion Asuka.
Ripley would be a candidate to face the Raw Women’s Champion at WrestleMania 37. Given how strong she looked at the end of the Rumble and her performance during last year’s ‘Mania season, I wouldn’t be surprised if she won an Elimination Chamber qualifier to earn a title shot at the Show of Shows where she would win this time.
WWE should be high on Ripley, and they have a golden opportunity to rectify last year’s booking errors, especially with Charlotte, whom Rhea eliminated on Sunday, on Raw. There would be a lot of immediate intrigue if Ripley were to show up on Monday Night Raw next week.
