WWE Royal Rumble 2021: Top Ten Surprise Entrants
Another WWE Royal Rumble event has come and gone. Many people were skeptical of how the Royal Rumble would go down without fans, but both matches went great. There were some moments when you missed the crowd not being there, but millions of fans surely made up for that by screaming and cheering at home.
Qualitywise, the 2021 Royal Rumble holds up well against any other Rumble pay-per-view before it; the drama and excitement were there in full force. Both matches also produced worthy winners; we are all excited for Edge and Bianca Belair. This year’s pair of Rumble matches also arguably had the biggest list of surprise entrants of them all.
Between the two rumble matches, seventeen entrants could be considered “surprises”. Out of all of the choices, I am narrowing down with the ole’ faithful top ten list. Shall we get the countdown going and someone to start chanting along?
10. Kane
I was surprised to see the iconic flames of Kane as he entered at number 18. Since becoming the Mayor of Knox County, Tenn. in 2018, Kane’s in-ring career has mostly come to a standstill, outside of a few appearances. His most notable guest appearance came won the WWE 24/7 Championship as Mayor Glenn Jacobs.
And they say Kane is scary; Mayor Jacobs has the government on his side *shivers*. Despite his mayoral duties, though, Kane finds every opportunity to return, and the 2021 Rumble was a prime one. In the Rumble, he racked up two eliminations, tossing out Dolph Ziggler and Ricochet. He also shared a beautiful “hug it out” moment with old friend and tag team partner Daniel Bryan.
Unfortunately for The Big Red Monster, he lasted less than two minutes before being eliminated by Damian Priest. Kane went on to praise Priest talking about his potential in a post-match interview, but we will get back to that very topic soon enough.
