On this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, there are no scheduled matches but Edge, the 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble Winner, is scheduled to make an appearance on this episode to address the possibility of battling Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 37. As reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observing Newsletter, WWE is planning Roman Reigns vs. Edge for the main event of WrestleMania 37, so that possibility seems to be high.

Edge, Roman Reigns, and Drew McIntyre were the final 3 in the 2020 Royal Rumble. Edge was eliminated by Roman Reigns in the 2020 Royal Rumble and Roman Reigns proved that he was the superior champion when he defeated McIntyre at Survivor Series. Since Edge is the ultimate opportunist, would want his comeuppance, and seeks the greatest challenges to overcome as a babyface, he has an incentive to challenge Reigns at Mania.

Meanwhile, Bianca Belair, the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble Winner, will very likely select SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks as her WrestleMania opponent. Due to high demand from the WWE fanbase, it has been made clear throughout the past year or so that Sasha Banks (c) vs. Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania is a dream match in the making.

The WWE has already kickstarted its road to WrestleMania as it builds towards the Elimination Chamber. Since there are only three weeks of build for this PPV, expect WWE to book some last-minute qualification matches and title matches for the pay-per-view on this episode.  However, Elimination Chamber is still the pivotal roadblock to Mania that could change who the champions are and what the potential matchups could be at Mania.

This week’s episode will hopefully feature key Elimination Chamber qualification matches to set up the chamber matches for both the Universal Championship and SmackDown Women’s Championship en route to WrestleMania 37. Meanwhile, Big E will be occupied with an owed title match for the IC Championship. With that being said, it’s now time to preview and predict the matches and segments that will occur on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown is scheduled to take place on February 5, 2021 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT live on FOX. Here are some predictions for this week’s show.

5.) Aleister Black vs. King Corbin [Grudge Match]

On last week’s episode, King Corbin defeated Dominick Mysterio again, but Dominick Mysterio got his comeuppance when he eliminated Corbin from the Men’s Royal Rumble. Rey Mysterio has been teasing a secret plan to usurp Corbin, but he has not executed it yet. Mysterio had mentioned that Corbin is a former Golden Gloves boxer, and he knows just the guy they need to have a chat with to take Corbin down. Mysterio may have hinted at a return for Aleister Black.

Many fans speculated that he may have hinted at an NXT call up for Damian Priest. However, Priest was called up to Raw this week in a program with Miz and John Morrison. Now that he is no longer an option for this storyline, the only other superstar that comes to mind is Aleister Black, who has not been seen on television in months. Like Damian Priest, Aleister Black has a background in mixed martial arts, which could blend well or level up to Corbin’s boxing experience.

Black has helped the Mysterios in the past in their program with Seth Rollins. He could very well return as a babyface once more to help them in their program with King Corbin. Black will successfully execute Mysterios’ plan by defeating Corbin in his return and using that momentum to insert himself in a top program for Mania. It has been reported that WWE has big re-debut plans for Aleister Black. This could be the re-rebut plan in store for him.

Prediction: Aleister Black
