Looking forward to the 2021 edition of the WWE Elimination Chamber

Since the initial creation of the match in 2002, the brainchild of Triple H has become a signature of WWE. The unique match concept has grown into a pay-per-view built around the match. WWE replaced No Way Out with the Elimination Chamber PPV in 2010 and has never looked back. Since then, it has been one of the biggest pay-per-views going into WrestleMania.

With all respect to Fastlane, the Elimination Chamber has the history to properly set up WrestleMania matches. Only a few years ago, we saw Bray Wyatt win the WWE Championship inside the Elimination Chamber, setting up for his match against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 33. This year could also produce Elimination Chamber matches that change the WrestleMania picture.

The Elimination Chamber matches this year are still yet to be announced. We aren’t sure which championships will be defended inside the chamber. However, we are going to focus on one for the time: the WWE Championship. Drew McIntyre will possibly have his hands full on February 21st.

Drew McIntyre has only competed in one WWE Elimination Chamber back at the 2011 pay-per-view.

This will be only Drew McIntyre’s second Elimination Chamber. However, this will be a different side of McIntyre entering the chamber than ten years ago. This is the two-time WWE Champion that has defeated Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, and Goldberg to name a few. He is at the top of his game and will enter the chamber with a huge target on his back.

Everybody will be gunning to take out the champion. Which is exactly the way that Drew wants it to be. He will be at the top of his game going into the Elimination Chamber. He will be determined more than ever in retaining his WWE Championship. However, there will be five other men in the chamber just as determined to become the WWE Champion.

There are multiple superstars on the Raw roster that are worthy of a spot. We are looking to see the five that stand out amongst the list.

Sheamus

Since being drafted to Raw in the 2020 WWE draft, Sheamus has been on the top of his game. A decade after becoming the WWE Champion, he could be on the verge of regaining the championship. For months, Sheamus has been promoting his lengthy friendship with the WWE Champion Drew McInytre. Despite friendly efforts, people have speculated about his intentions.

Many people warned Drew McIntyre about his “friend” Sheamus. However, it started to seem like Sheamus actually had good intentions for once. Unfortunately, we found out that his intentions were foul on Raw. He brogue kicked his best friend and declared his intent to become the WWE Champion once again.

Sheamus is as dangerous as he ever has been and you can never count him out to become the world champion. It has been over five years since Sheamus has held the WWE Championship. Perhaps he could shock the WWE Universe by winning the Elimination Chamber to win his fourth WWE Championship.

AJ Styles

Many fans had AJ Styles as their favorite to win the Royal Rumble match. It has been a few years since AJ’s historic over a year reign as the WWE Champion. Since then, he has added prestige to the likes of the United States and Intercontinental Championships. He went toe-to-toe with The Undertaker at WrestleMania. AJ has done a bit of nearly everything already in the company.

He has even competed as the WWE Champion at WrestleMania. Could it possibly be his year to enter the show of shows as champion again? Since Edge’s return in the 2020 Royal Rumble, fans have been calling for a match between Edge and AJ Styles. This is one of the rare dream matches that fans have left and this is the chance to execute it.

If AJ Styles can enter the Elimination Chamber and leave as the new WWE Champion, Edge could select him as the champion to face at this year’s WrestleMania. However, this is just wishful thinking for now, but there is always the possibility of it coming true. If this isn’t the time for Edge versus AJ, we will still be patiently waiting until it is.

Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman is back and you can be sure that he will be back with a vengeance. He returned on the SmackDown before the Royal Rumble in the best shape of his career. He showed up at the Royal Rumble a few days later as destructive as he has ever been, eliminating three people in a short time. Now that he is back, he will be looking to give everybody “those hands.”

There is no better place for Braun to cause chaos than inside of the Elimination Chamber. Last year, Braun Strowman entered WrestleMania as Roman Reigns’ replacement. Being in the right place at the right time, Braun went on to defeat Goldberg at WrestleMania 36 to become the Universal Champion. Despite that accomplishment, he’s still missing the WWE Championship.

If he earns a spot in the chamber, he will be a favorite to win the entire thing. However, Braun was suspended in 2020 due to his actions on Raw. His return on SmackDown could end up being more of a one-off appearance. If Braun does stay on Raw, I would expect that we will see Braun inside the chamber.

Mustafa Ali

Mustafa Ali has been on a career-defining run since being revealed as the leader of Retribution. He has proved himself against the likes of old friend Ricochet. He has most recently targeted The New Day or more specifically, Kofi Kingston. Ali has been determined to recreate Kofi Kingston’s Road to WrestleMania for himself.

It all started when Ali was injured in 2019 and was replaced by Kofi Kingston in that year’s Elimination Chamber. Kofi went on to go to “KofiMania” to win the WWE Championship. A moment that Mustafa claims that should have been his. Two years later, Mustafa Ali has the opportunity to possibly qualify for the Elimination Chamber.

It would be even more of a moment if Mustafa could defeat Kofi Kingston to earn his chamber spot. While I doubt that Ali will leave the pay-per-view as champion, this is the place that he can prove that he can hang with Raw’s best superstars. Ali can prove himself as a contender for the world championship and hopefully gain some deserved momentum.

Randy Orton

If there is a man that needs to be in this match, it is Randy Orton. As soon as his name is announced as a participant, he becomes a favorite to become the WWE Champion once again. You can never count “The Legend Killer” out. He used 2020 to remind everybody exactly who he is and what he is capable of doing. This version of Randy Orton would thrive in this environment.

If you thought his attack on Jeff Hardy was gruesome in their Hell In A Cell match, who can imagine what he would do in the Elimination Chamber now. This is the man that set The Fiend on fire. With Alexa Bliss playing with his mind and causing him to lose to Edge, we can expect that Randy is going to be very bitter moving forward.

All of his rage and aggression would be right at home inside the hellacious chamber. Randy could very well dominate the Elimination Chamber and win his 15th world championship. However, Randy will have to look over his shoulder for The Fiend or Alexa Bliss. This could be the place that The Fiend rises from his own ashes.
