Top 5 teams we’d like to see face Edge & Christian in 2021
Edge returned as an active competitor at the 2020 Royal Rumble match and Christian returned to action for the first time since 2014 at the 2021 Royal Rumble match. With these two legends being in the ring together, it gave me some thoughts. What if Edge and Christian went for one more run as a tag team?
Edge and Christian would bring in new lifeblood to the tag team scene in WWE. The former 7-time WWE Tag Team Champions, Edge and Christian would have a variety of matches against the stacked roster on all three WWE brands today. Of a large number of tag teams, these five come to my mind to go against Edge and Christian.
John Morrison and The Miz
When John Morrison and The Miz first paired up back in 2007, I wanted to see a match between that team and Edge and Christian. Their personalities really match and the promos that these two teams would have against each other would be entertaining. Edge and Christian is one of the most successful tag teams in the early 2000s and John Morrison and The Miz are the most successful WWE tag team of the late 2000s. So seeing these two teams clash would be a dream match.
New Day
Another successful tag team and one of the best of the 2010s is The New Day. Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods turned a gimmick that was frowned upon initially, into a gimmick that made them household names in time. The thought of Edge and Christian going against The New Day is intriguing due to the number of comedy spots that could happen in the match while also staying in tone to their characters. Plus, The build could be based on Edge taking Kofi Kingston’s Elimination Chamber spot from over ten years ago. Continuity matters I can say.
The Hurt Business
MVP and Shelton Benjamin of The Hurt Business are legends in their own right and they both had matches against Edge and Christian several years ago. What would be more interesting, is how this feud would develop and how the match would go. But the good thing is, they all have in-ring chemistry and this would be a solid tag team match.
The Viking Raiders
As far as I can tell, the only times Edge and Christian faced a team that are larger than them is The Brothers of Destruction and The APA. Both Edge and Christian have never been in the ring with The Viking Raiders before and the potential match would be an explosive one. The Viking Raiders can work with any team regardless of size and I believe that Edge and Christian can hold up with them.
Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode
Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode have not had too many credible wins over their shoulders. But a win against Edge and Christian would make their stock to the casual viewer rise. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode are flashy and can get the match done just like Edge and Christian were in the early 2000s. I would also like to see Edge and Robert Roode in a singles match in the future since that was a longtime WWE vs. TNA crossover match I wanted for years.
