WWE SmackDown Predictions: Seth Rollins Will Anoint Daniel Bryan

On this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, there are no scheduled matches but Seth Rollins is scheduled to return to SmackDown after his two-month paternity leave. He made an impact at the Royal Rumble from entry #29 and will very likely do the same on this week’s episode as fans wonder who Rollins will target in his next mission. The only SmackDown superstar he eliminated was Daniel Bryan, who could very well be his next rival on the road to WrestleMania.

The WWE has already kickstarted its road to WrestleMania as it builds towards the Elimination Chamber. Since there is almost one more week of build for this PPV, expect WWE to book some last-minute qualification matches and title matches for the pay-per-view on this episode.  However, Elimination Chamber is still the pivotal roadblock to Mania that could change who the champions are and what the potential matchups could be at Mania.

This week’s episode will hopefully feature key Elimination Chamber qualification matches to set up the chamber matches for both the Universal Championship and SmackDown Women’s Championship en route to WrestleMania 37. However, Adam Pearce will probably just announce the contestants, like he did on Raw. With that being said, it’s now time to preview and predict the matches and segments that will occur on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown is scheduled to take place on February 12, 2021 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT live on FOX. Here are some predictions for this week’s show.

5.) Rey Mysterio vs. King Corbin [Grudge Match]

On last week’s WWE SmackDown, Dominick Mysterio defeated King Corbin. It is foreseeable that Rey Mysterio will battle King Corbin this week and defeat him to finally end their feud with Corbin. Mysterio had teased that a plan to introduce someone with an MMA or kickboxing background to battle Corbin. Many fans speculated that it would be Damian Priest, but he got called up to Raw. Ever since Priest appeared on Raw, Mysterio has not mentioned his plan.

Apparently, plans seem to have changed in this storyline after the release of Steve Cutler, who was one of King Corbin’s henchmen. It is unfortunate that WWE could not just follow through on its rebranding of Aleister Black for this storyline. He also has an MMA background and had helped the Mysterios in their battle against Rollins in the past. It would have made a lot of sense for Black to come to the rescue for a huge return. Nonetheless, Mysterio will end the feud here.
