WWE Fastlane: Top 5 Matches in The PPV’s History

Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair– Fastlane 2017
It was a major moment when three out of the four NXT Horsewomen — Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Sasha Banks — debuted on Raw that fateful night in July 2015. However, when Bayley was left behind at NXT, some fans felt that the puzzle wasn’t complete within the WWE women’s division without her. That changed in the summer of 2016 when she finally got the call up to the main roster.
It was only a matter of time before Bayley went toe-to-toe with Charlotte Flair, and while many fans believed that Bayley would score her first main roster women’s title at the big show that year, WWE gave us all a swerve when The Hugger became The Champ by defeating “The Queen” on the Feb. 13 episode of Raw before retaining it against Flair month later at Fastlane, before WM, thus, entering the Grandest Stage of All as RAW Women’s Champion. Plus, the match at Fastlane was incredible. How could it not be with these two involved?
The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins) vs. Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, and Baron Corbin – Fastlane 2019
This match had to hit this list. After all, it was the very last time The Shield came together for a PPV (well, sort of …). In January of 2019, news broke that Dean Ambrose was leaving the WWE, and the company would confirm that the superstar had decided against renewing his contract that was set to expire after WrestleMania 35. Moreover, after months away from in-ring action due to his leukemia diagnosis, Roman Reigns returned to the WWE in February of that year, ready to get back in that squared circle. It felt as if the universe was aligned for a Shield reunion and goodbye.
With Ambrose on the cusp of leaving, and Reigns just returning, the WWE knew it needed to capitalize on the final chapter of a faction that became one of the most popular wrestling stables in recent history. An incredible match at Fastlane 2019 was booked, and while at the time fans all thought this was it for the trio (it was promoted as The Shield’s last match together), on April 21, 2019, the WWE scheduled The Shield’s Final Chapter, which featured their last (this time for real) match together ever, and Ambrose’s last bout in the WWE.
