Roman Reigns (c) vs. Edge [Universal Championship]
As the top heel, Reigns needs to topple a top babyface at WrestleMania, and Bryan fit the bill until Edge showed up. Bryan has been a popular babyface for a very long time and was probably only one of a few who could put Reigns over as a megastar. However, Edge’s Royal Rumble win, recent back-and-forth promos with Reigns on WWE SmackDown, and quest to become win back the World Title he never lost have teased enough interest in this Universal Championship match.
Whether it was Daniel Bryan or Edge, Roman Reigns would benefit because he would be defeating another WrestleMania main eventer. However, if Daniel Bryan battled Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 37, it would be more obvious that Reigns would retain the title. For Edge’s case, he has the chance to rewrite history, win the Universal Championship, and bring back the World Heavyweight Championship he never lost.

The unpredictability of this match helps spark interest in this match and tells a better story than just the idea of a ‘spear vs. spear’ wrestling match. However, at the end of the day, Roman Reigns needs to win this match. He has the drawing power WWE SmackDown needs to remain on the map, and his Universal Championship reign has not reached its climax yet. Until then, Reigns will be SmackDown’s tribal chief and Edge will have to leave his broken dreams behind. Stay tuned.
