On this week’s go-home episode of WWE SmackDown, there are no scheduled segments but there are two scheduled matches: Edge vs. Jey Uso to determine the official special enforcer for the Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan at WWE Fastlane 2021 and Sasha Banks (c) vs. Nia Jax for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. These two blockbuster main events should get the fans excited for WWE Fastlane 2021 this Sunday.

As for WWE Fastlane 2021, there are already three scheduled matches from SmackDown’s recent bookings: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Daniel Bryan for the Universal Title, Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax (w/Reginald) (c) vs. Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair for the Women’s Tag Team Titles, and Big E (c) vs. Apollo Crews for the Intercontinental Title. Another match that could be added is Dirty Dawgs (c) vs. Street Profits vs. Alpa Academy vs. Mysterios for the SmackDown Tag Titles.

Indeed, the WWE has already kickstarted its road to WrestleMania 37 as it builds towards Fastlane. Like Elimination Chamber, Fastlane is another pivotal roadblock to ‘Mania that could change who the champions are and what the potential matchups could be for the show. With that being said, it’s now time to preview and predict the matches and segments that will occur on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown is scheduled to take place on March 19, 2021, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT live on FOX. Here are some predictions for this week’s show.

5.) Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy vs. Mysterios [SmackDown Tag Team Championship Number One Contender’s Match]

On last week’s WWE SmackDown, Street Profits and Mysterios defeated Dirty Dawgs and Alpha Academy in an eight-man tag team match. Although that eight-man tag team match was fun to watch, it didn’t make any sense to book Otis and Dolph Ziggler as tag team partners after their history with Mandy Rose in 2020. It also did not make any sense to pin the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, who should be protected more than anyone in the division.

Nonetheless, it has become clear that Street Profits, Alpha Academy, and Mysterios are the only possible contenders for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. They will either battle in a fatal four-way match against Dirty Dawgs for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at Fastlane or battle in a triple threat match to determine the number one contender for the titles at ‘Mania. If the latter happens, the Mysterios are the best option since they’re babyfaces and it’s a fresh matchup.

Prediction: Mysterios
