WWE SmackDown Predictions: Edge Will Become The Special Enforcer

4.) Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Seth Rollins & Buddy Murphy [Tag Match]
On last week’s WWE SmackDown, Cesaro defeated Buddy Murphy via disqualification after Seth Rollins attacked Cesaro during the match. Rollins then went backstage and met eye to eye with Shinsuke Nakamura, who probably wants to assist Cesaro — his tag team partner — in this feud. Teddy Long’s booking would come in handy here, in which Cesaro and Nakamura can simply pick up a tag victory over Rollins and Murphy as payback for last week’s attacks.
Nakamura should pin Murphy, while Cesaro and Rollins take their fight to the backstage area. The idea here is to build Cesaro vs. Rollins to WrestleMania so that Cesaro can get a big victory over a former world champion that would propel him to the main event scene. This match could also happen at Fastlane, but winning at Fastlane is not as impactful as winning at WrestleMania. There’s definitely more to this story that needs to be unpacked in the next three weeks.
Prediction: Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura
3.) Big E (c) vs. King Corbin [Intercontinental Championship]
On last week’s WWE SmackDown, Big E hosted an open challenge for his Intercontinental Championship. King Corbin was about to answer the challenge in his $10,000 suit, but Sami Zayn interrupted Corbin to get his one-on-one Intercontinental Title rematch that he never received. Big E retained the championship against Zayn but was attacked by Apollo Crews after the match to set up an Intercontinental Championship match between the two for WWE Fastlane 2021.
Before Big E moves on to defend the title to Apollo Crews at the PPV, he will defend his title against King Corbin on this episode since Corbin did not get a chance to wrestle for the title last week. Big E will retain the title, and he will be ready for Apollo Crews’ post-match attack. This time, Big E will attack Crews with the steel steps to regain his momentum before Fastlane, where Apollo Crews will dethrone him to become the new Intercontinental Champion.
Indeed, Apollo Crews will win the IC Title to solidify his new gimmick and give Big E a wake-up call, inciting him enough to have a new edge going into Mania and chasing him down to win the title back. Big E won his first Intercontinental Championship from Curtis Axel on Raw in 2013 and won his second Intercontinental Championship from Sami Zayn on SmackDown in 2020. He needs to win the title on PPV for once, so this would be his gateway to doing so against Crews at ‘Mania.
Prediction: Big E
