WrestleMania is also known as the “Showcase of the Immortals.” Some of the greatest WWE matches of all time have taken place at the company’s biggest annual pay-per-view. These include but are not limited to Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XXV and XXVI, Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart at WrestleMania XXII, and Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XIX.

Oftentimes, however, there are many, many underrated matches that steal the show. Unfortunately for those matches, they are just overshadowed by bigger matches.

These are the three most underrated matches in WrestleMania history.

1. Chris Jericho vs Christian (Wrestlemania XX)

WrestleMania XX was a great overall show. It was incredible from top to bottom and had something for everyone to watch. WrestleMania XX was headlined by an incredible WWE Championship match between Eddie Guerrero and Kurt Angle and a phenomenal triple threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Earlier on the card, Chris Jericho took on Christian in a phenomenal match. This match had a lot to it, including an impressive heel turn from Trish Stratus at the end of the match. Jericho and Christian had a great back and forth match and it just didn’t get the recognition it deserved.

2. Eddie Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio (Wrestlemania 21)

WrestleMania 21 was another great one. This was the night that “WrestleMania went Hollywood”. This year was headlined by John Cena vs. JBL for the WWE Championship and the main event between Batista and Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship, aka the night where Batista and Cena ascended as the company’s centerpiece babyfaces.

You didn’t need to look far to see the first great match of the night. Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio kicked off the show and had arguably one of the best opening matches in WrestleMania history. Mysterio ultimately won this match — adding further tension to their upcoming summer feud — but the match itself was absolutely incredible between two of the best to ever do it.

3. CM Punk vs Chris Jericho (Wrestlemania XXVIII)

So this one might be a little controversial, but hear me out. WrestleMania XXVIII was headlined by John Cena vs. The Rock and the Hell in a Cell match between The Undertaker and Triple H with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee. This was an incredible WrestleMania from start to finish.

CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho took place this same night and was for the WWE Championship. The match was severely underrated due to the fact the show was headlined by arguably the biggest match of all-time in Cena vs. Rock. Punk ended up taking the victory after a half-hour-long slugfest between the two superstars.

All of these matches are subject to opinion, but these are just three of the most underrated matches in history. These matches stole the show at their respective shows but were underrated and undervalued because of a bigger headliner.
