WWE Raw results: Drew McIntyre wins shot at WWE title
WrestleMania may have come and gone, but WrestleMania season does not end there. The Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania has become a central part in the start of a new “season” for WWE content. With all the major matches and angles behind them, Monday’s edition of the show will hopefully set the course forward for new and engaging content.
The night started with Bobby Lashley, out to celebrate his victory over Drew McIntyre and address the WWE Universe. However, that changed when he ended up in a match against Matt Riddle.
Riddle rode out on his scooter and was immediately flattened by the champion. The beating continued for minutes outside of the ring, well before the match started. Riddle was tossed back into the ring and even though Riddle got back to his feet, Lashley did not give him any room to breathe.
Lashley continued to have his way, planting Lashley with a delayed vertical suplex, holding him in the air with one hand. Riddle fought back for a moment, but Lashley tossed him out of the ring and then over the barricade. Riddle was barely able to make it back into the ring, but that put him right back into the crosshairs of Lashley who continued the onslaught. Riddle had his moment, but when he went for the Floating Bro, he missed badly, allowing Lashley to lock in the Hurt Lock and put him out, picking up the victory.

The next match was tag team action as Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin were out to face off against the returning Viking Raiders.
Ivar started out the match, pummeling Alexander in the corner. Erik followed up, slamming Ivar on top of him. Alexander and Benjamin went to some diversion tactics to drop Erik, nearly picking up the win. From there, Benjamin continued to have his way with Erik, wailing on him with shots and suplexes. Alexander returned to the ring and continued control for a moment, but that was soon halted, allowing Erik to get the tag to Ivar.
Ivar and Shelton exchanged strikes in the center of the ring with Ivar taking control, picking up the pace on the former tag team champ. He would even take out both members on his own, before tagging in Erik for tandem office. They hit the Viking Experience on Alexander, picking up the victory.
The Viking Raiders defeated Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin via pinfall.
Asuka was out to get in a rematch against Rhea Ripley, who took the title from her last night at WrestleMania.
The two women went right to work exchanging blows like this was a fist fight instead of a wrestling match. Ripley got the first advantage, being the bigger and stronger woman. Even after Asuka had a moment of offense with an arm bar attempt, Ripley continued to dominate, knocking Asuka from the top rope.
Asuka found a way to fight back, landing kicks to Ripley’s chest and a big dropkick. The match course changed as the former champion continued to put forth a lot of offense, dropping Ripley but she was able to kick out before the count of three.
The two women would not back down from each other, attempting to go more for move but unable to connect. Asuka attempted to put in the Asuka Lock, but Ripley fought out of the maneuver. But Ripley could not stop Asuka from planting her face first into the apron. Just as action picked up, Charlotte Flair ran out to attack both women, ending the match in a disqualification.
Asuka versus Rhea Ripley ended in a no contest due to disqualification.
The Miz and John Morrison found themselves in a two-on-one handicap match against Damien Priest. The match started out as expected, with Morrison and the Miz double teaming Priest. That did not last long for them as Priest got his momentum rolling, leveling both men. He would knock them both from outside of the ring, then diving on top of them to the outside. Priest even landing a spinning heel kick from the top of the rope, nearly pinning Morrison.

Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke were set for tag action next against Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.
Jax went right to work tossing Brooke around the ring. Both she and Baszler took their turns dominating Brooke, with Jax nearly pinning her after an elbow drop. Brooke was finally able to get over to Rose, who immediately landed a big dropkick on Baszler. Rose was able to fight out of the Kirifuda Clutch, falling outside the ring. Instead of finishing the bout, Rose and Brooke decided to take to running, taking the defeat via count out.
Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax defeated Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke via count out.
The New Day ended up having a face off with Jaxson Ryker and Elias. Ryker started the match overpowering Xavier Woods, but it was not long before he and Kofi Kingston took over. That was until Ryker landed a big spinebuster on Woods, planting him in the middle of the ring. They were able to cut Woods off from Kingston, focusing their offense on him.
Kingston was able to get the tag and started rolling on both men, nearly pinning Elias after a stomp to the gut. Kingston missed the Trouble in Paradise, but they teamed up to hit their version of the Midnight Hour to pin Elias and get the victory.
The New Day defeated Jaxson Ryker and Elias via pinfall.
The main event of the night was a triple-threat match to see who would face Bobby Lashley at the next PPV, WrestleMania Backlash. Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, and Randy Orton all stood to win a chance to face Lashley.
Orton rolled out of the ring, allowed Strowman and McIntyre to beat each other up. Orton and McIntyre would then start to work together to take down the bigger man. Strowman attempted to run through McIntyre and Orton but was smashed in the face with the steel steps. Back in the ring, Orton took over, slowly damaging McIntyre.

Orton was in firm control outside the ring until Strowman came barreling through him. He then returned the favor to McIntyre, hitting him with the steel chairs. Orton was able to hit a big RKO on Orton but before he could get the pin, McIntyre slid in with a Claymore to Orton’s face, pinning him to become the number one contender for the title.
Drew McIntyre defeated Randy Orton and Braun Strowman via pinfall.
Before McIntyre could do much celebrating, he was attacked by MACE and T-BAR, formerly of RETRIBUTION as the show went off the air.
