WrestleMania season may have come and gone, but that doesn’t stop the WWE from using that brand heading into the next PPV as WrestleMania Backlash is coming in May. Set for Sunday, May 16 on the WWE Network, featured on Peacock, this special will continue the practice of multiple title matches based on the feuds built through weekly content.

The current card for WrestleMania Backlash is as follows:

  • Bobby Lashley defends the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat match against Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre.
  • Bianca Belair defends the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship against Bayley in a one-on-one match.
  • Rhea Ripley defends the WWE Raw Women’s Championship against Asuka and Charlotte Flair in a Triple Threat match.
  • Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode defend the WWE SmackDown Tag Team titles against Rey and Dominick Mysterio.
  • Roman Reigns (with Paul Heyman and the Usos) defends the WWE Universal title against Cesaro.
  • Damian Priest versus The Miz in a lumberjack match.

As the card gets closer, expect for additional matches to be announced, featuring other champions such as the current WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, United States Champion Sheamus, and other members of both the Monday Night Raw and SmackDown rosters.

This will be the first WWE Network special to come from the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. This event will not have fans in attendance, due to the continued global COVID-19 pandemic. This is following WrestleMania in April, where the WWE welcomed fans back for a major event since the pandemic brought the industry to a near halt in 2020.
