Impact Wrestling Under Siege 2021 Results

Impact Wrestling continues its impressive 2021 with the Impact Plus exclusive show Under Siege. A night that promises to have implications for Impact Wrestling for months to come we’re going to find out the number one contender for Kenny Omega’s Impact World Heavyweight championship and have the opportunity to see a new Knockouts Champion crowned.

Black Taurus w/Rosemary and Crazy Steve vs. Brian Meyers

Brian Meyers feud with Decay continues on Under Siege as he finds himself facing off with the “muscle” of the group in Black Taurus. Taurus takes immediate control of the match manhandling him around the ring forcing Meyers to take a beat and figure out a new strategy. Seemingly with the new strategy in hand Meyers leaves the ring to strike Crazy Steve who cannot retaliate without losing the match for Taurus. This causes Taurus to exit the ring to check on his stablemate allowing Meyers to throw him into the barricade. From that move Meyers had the match in hand slowly and methodically picking apart the large luchador moving between submission holds and pin attempts with ease.

Taurus was able to turn the tide of the match momentarily when he bounded up the turnbuckle before throwing himself off the top rope with a spinning crossbody tackle. From there Taurus seemed to tap into his rage and Lucha Libre roots taking a much more highflying approach to the entire evening. Choosing not to engage in Meyers ideal striking and submission game. Meyers was able to pull out the victory by first sticking a thumb in Black Taurus’ eye before crossing the ring with a violent-looking clothesline shoulder tackle and keeping him to the mat for the pin.

Susan and Kimber Lee vs. Tennille Dashwood and Taylor Wilde

Susan and Taylor Wilde start the match off and Taylor takes immediate control before Susan is able to tag in Kimber leading Tennille to utilize a blind tag. Tennille almost immediately loses the momentum Taylor garnered for her team falling victim to near falls from both Kimber Lee and Susan. Tennille is able to tag in Taylor Wilde and she goes to work on Susan using her as a base for some of her more impressive offensive maneuvers.

Tennille and Taylor quickly show issues in their team dynamic with Taylor up on the third rope and being knocked down when Tennielle is thrown into the buckle by Susan. Tennille and Taylor secure the victory after Susan is pulled into a schoolboy cover by Taylor for the three count.

Ace Austin and Madman Fulton vs. XXXL vs. Rohit Raju and Shera vs. TJP and Petey Williams for Impact Wrestling Tag Team Championship Number one contenders

This was a wild match. I am not usually a big fan of multiteam tag matches because it can be tough to make sense of who is legal in the match. This match definitely suffered from that at times but was at its core a very good match that served to build the number one contenders as legitimate challengers for FinnJuice. The end of the match came when Madman Fulton delivered a pendulum suplex to Larry D before Ace Austin rolled him up for the pin.

W. Morrissey vs. Willie Mack

Willie Mack came out the gate hard and fast at W. Morrissey. Knowing that his best bet for success was to get into his face early and often. Morrissey was able to muscle out and get the separation he needed to get the upper hand back. Both men pride themselves on their striking and that was on display early in this match with both men laying in their strikes snuggly. A huge turn in the match came when W. Morrisey with a huge boot to the face knocking him out of the ring and to the floor. Morrissey then rolled out of the ring to break the referee’s count and continue to damage Mack. He broke the count again at seven choosing then to wrap Mack in the steel barricade. Mack is then brought back into the ring as Morrissey begins to again beat down the man and isolate his shoulders and throat.

He then delivers a series of elbow drops before being forced to break by the referee. Willie shows immense fight and grit during the match by kicking out of a pin attempt following the elbow drops. Willie is able to power up then and bring the fight to Morrissey delivering a few clothesline strikes before a spinning kick and a jumping knee strike bring Morrissey to his knees. Willie is able to get a near fall before being plucked out of the air and having Morrisseys finishing move “East River Crossing” delivered. Morrissey chooses not to pin him at that moment however and instead delivers a knee to the back of the neck before pinning him in the center of the ring.

Following the fight, Morrissey chooses to continue attacking Mack before being interrupted and chased off by Rich Swann. The former Impact Champion has not been seen since losing his title to Kenny Omega nearly four weeks ago.

Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering (c) vs. Fire and Flava for Impact Knockouts Tag Team Champions

The difference between these two teams was shown early and often in this match as Fire and Flava (Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz) attempted to get the match moving quickly but were almost instantly ground to a halt by the imposing strength and power of Ellering and Grace. The former champions were able to get a bit of offense in after Tasha was able to get her knees to break up the striking attempt from Ellering. Fire and Flava maintained control over Ellering tagging in and out rapidly to keep the ring cut in half and keep Ellering away from her partner.

Tasha delivers a cocky pin attempt choosing not to hook the leg leading Ellering to kick out and almost get a hot tag to Grace. Steelz then crosses the ring striking Grace and goading her into following her into the ring causing Brian Hebner to body block her and allowing Fire and Flava to beat down on Ellering without fear.

We get a hot tag then with Jordynne Grace taking out her frustration on Tasha Steelz and nearly securing a pin. Now it’s time for Grace and Ellering to beat on Steelz while Hogan has words with Brian Hebner. Kiera Hogan and Rachel Ellering are then brawling outside the ring as Jordynne Grace and Tasha Steelz are facing off once again. Tasha is able to take advantage of the distraction by Kiera and deliver a frog splash to Grace for the pin.

Fire and Flava defeat Jordynne Grace and Rachel Ellering to win the Knockouts Tag Team Championships.

Josh Alexander (c) vs. ELP for X-Division Championship

Josh Alexander is being built to be an incredibly strong competitor. Not only is he the X division champion but he is able to manhandle El Phantasmo for a majority of their matchup. While his gear makes you think he’ll be a bit of a joke in the ring. Alexander is clearly no joke. He was able to immediately break up ELP’s plan of using high-intensity high impact and high-flying offense to overwhelm Alexander by catching him quickly and using his Greco Roman skills and pure power to keep El Phantasmo grounded throughout the beginning of the match.

Phantasmo was able to pull out a few high-flying moves to take control of the match for a moment before being backed into the corner and having several knife-edged chops applied to his chest.

ELP’s hubris and ego seemed to get the better of him at times in this match choosing to pose and taunt instead of focusing in. ELP would eventually transition to the small joint control in Josh Alexander’s hands hopefully neutralizing Alexander’s ankle lock.

The ankle lock would be an important factor in the later stages of the match with Alexander having several opportunities to end the match if he could only keep hold of ELP’s ankle. But the work that was done early seemed to neutralize the move as intended.

Unfortunately for ELP he forgot to take into account that the “Walking Weapon” is able to secure the hold with both hands and he locks in the ankle lock forcing El Phantasmo to tap out.

Josh Alexander submits ELP to retain his X-Division Title

Deonna Purrazzo (c) w/ Kimber Lee and Susan vs. Havok for Knockouts Title

Deonna Purrazzo plays such a good heel that you forget quickly just how good of a professional wrestler she is. Especially when given the opportunity to focus her offense on specific joints and body parts of her opponents.

Purrazzo maintained leverage and control over Havok allowing her only a few moments of offense throughout the match. Instead choosing to keep the veteran fighter moving at her own pace. Havok was able to put together a few solid moves which left Deonna laid out on the mat for a moment allowing Havok to capitalize and pull her into a Boston Crab submission. Unfortunately for Havok, her injured arm came into play almost immediately allowing Purrazzo to drag herself to the ropes and break the hold. Susan and Kimber earned their paychecks allowing themselves to be attacked by Havok giving Deonna Purrazzo the time she needed to recenter herself and deliver a Fujiwara arm breaker forcing Havok to tap out.

Good Brothers and Kenny Omega vs. FinnJuice and Eddie Edwards

This was an interesting match with Karl Anderson and David Finlay starting off rehashing their match from this last Thursday’s edition of Impact on AXS. Neither team is able to get the upper hand for a large portion of the beginning of the match with both teams switching out competitors and looking for their openings slowly. FinnJuice and Edwards are able to build momentum when Kenny Omega is left alone in the ring Edwards is able to bring the Impact World Champion to their side of the ring using their high-speed offensive style to continue to beat down Omega.

Their momentum was short-lived unfortunately when Luke Gallows was able to catch the foot of Juice Robinson under the ropes allowing Kenny to take a moment and regain his composure.

Watching Juice Robinson and Kenny Omega work together makes me sad that we will likely never see these two men in Kouruken Hall for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. These guys have such incredible chemistry with one another and are able to tell a fantastic story. Let alone the eventuality of seeing the Good Brothers and FinnJuice in a World Tag League tournament.

Eddie Edwards was set up as the guy to take the pin which feels odd considering he’s the only true Impact guy in this matchup. The Good Brothers are signed to Impact but as long as their associated with Kenny Omega will always be NJPW/AEW guys first. The end of the match became very tedious with a false finish after a false finish and no real time to breathe between them. Surprisingly though it was Karl Anderson and not Eddie Edwards who would eat the pin from Edwards giving Impact fans a bit of a silver lining for the evening and setting the stage for what will almost certainly be an Eddie Edwards Kenny Omega championship match assuming he is able to defend against the winner of tonight’s main event.

Matt Cardona vs. Chris Bey vs. Sammi Callihan vs. Chris Sabin vs. MOOSE vs. Trey Miguel for Impact Wrestling World Championship #1 Contender

The way I’m not a fan of multi-man tag matches is the same way I’m not a fan of multi-man singles matches where only one pin will end the match. It’s an incredibly hard match to do well. Impact tried their hardest to do this well but it felt slow at moments with several wrestlers taking moments by themselves in the ring waiting for the next competitor to get off the floor and get back into the ring. There were several moments throughout the match where you saw MOOSE perched just off the ring apron waiting for his turn in the match.

Any of the six competitors in the match would be able to give Kenny Omega a hell of a challenge for his Impact World Title.

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows were sent to the ring by Kenny Omega and Don Callis to take out Sammi Callihan immediately building him as a massive threat to the title regardless of who wins the match. Like I predicted two weeks ago when we began finding the six men for this matchup the match was tailor-made for MOOSE to 1) run through the competition and 2) to be the one to take the World Title off of Kenny Omega. Whether he will take it with him to AEW when his Impact contract expires at the end of this year or not is yet to be seen.

MOOSE defeats Sammi Callihan, Matt Cardona, Chris Sabin, Chris Bey, and Trey Miguel to become the #1 contender.
