WWE: 5 current wrestlers deserving of a “Biography” episode
3) Becky Lynch
Who better than to receive an episode than “The Man” Becky Lynch?
Arguably the most popular wrestler of the past half decade, Lynch’s story is ready-made for (another) documentary.
She trained alongside her brother, but after suffering a head injury, left wrestling for several years. During this hiatus, she went to clown college before realizing she was wasting her time.
She returned by signing with NXT. She debuted as the plucky Irish wrestler, pretty much a stereotype. She then shifted to a more steampunk character. She debuted on Raw and Smackdown, became the “Lass Kicker,” then finally, “The Man.”
During that journey, she became the first Smackdown Women’s Champion, competed in the women’s Royal Rumble match, defended and fought for Women’s Championship in various matches, and turned heel so well the fans rejected it.
She led the above “invasion” in the lead to Survivor Series only to suffer legit injuries that forced her off of the card. Her fight to compete on the card further solidified her a fan favorite and “The Man.”
Of course, there’s the historic main event triple threat match at WrestleMania 35 against Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey.
At this point, the story seems to end (with more to come) with Lynch relinquishing the Women’s Championship to Asuka after Money in the Bank as she was pregnant and eventually gave birth in December to daughter Roux, whose father is Seth Rollins.
There are just so many discussion points when it comes to Lynch. Having those involved in her journey would add a certain flair (not to be punny), especially if Rousey participates.
There could also be a nice segment dedicated to her relationship with Rollins and becoming a mother. That’s always a good way to add a sense of relatability to someone whose stature is larger than life.
It could be a perfect season-opener.
