WWE SmackDown Predictions: Aleister Black Will Not Hinder Big E
By Mark Justice
WWE SmackDown always brings the metal. On this week’s WWE SmackDown, there is one scheduled match. The scheduled match is Street Profits vs. Usos in what will be a first ever tag team match. Also, in last week’s main event, Aleister Black screwed Big E in the scheduled fatal four way Intercontinental Championship match, allowing Apollo Crews to retain the title. Will Big E knock down Aleister Black as just another obstacle in his path on his way to the main event scene? Or will Aleister Black hinder Big E in his tracks to the Universal Championship?
WWE is four weeks away from WWE Hell in a Cell 2021. There is one match scheduled for this PPV event: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte for the Raw Women’s Title. Based on WWE’s recent bookings on Friday Nights, it is expected that the following matches will be built up for the PPV: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jimmy Uso for the Universal Title, Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Title, Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins, Apollo Crews (c) vs. Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental Title, and Mysterios (c) vs. Dirty Dawgs for the SmackDown Tag Titles.
With that being addressed, it’s now time to preview and predict the matches and segments that will occur on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.
WWE SmackDown is scheduled to take place on May 28, 2021, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT live on the FOX. Here are some predictions for this week’s show.
Street Profits vs. Usos [Tag Match]
On this week’s WWE SmackDown, Street Profits are scheduled to battle the Usos for the first time ever in what will most likely be the main event of the show. Although this match should be on PPV, it seems that this match will serve as a conduit towards a bigger storyline involving the Usos and Roman Reigns. Jey Uso is currently at a crossroads because he is forced to decide whether to maintain his loyalty to The Tribal Chief as his right hand man or maintain his philia with his brother in pursuit of the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
Jey Uso should continue doing both, but the current friction between Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso will not allow Jey Uso to do both. Although this is Usos’ first match together as a tag team in 2021 since Jimmy Uso returned from injury, expect Roman Reigns to interfere in some capacity. He was not too happy that the Usos scheduled a match with the Street Profits without his permission. He will very likely teach the Usos a lesson by screwing them in this match or eliciting dissension between the Usos until Jimmy Uso fully acknowledges him as his Tribal Chief.
Prediction: Street Profits
What’s Next For Aleister Black and Big E?
On WWE SmackDown’s main event last week, Aleister Black screwed Big E, allowing Apollo Crews to retain the title in a fatal four way IC Title match against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Many fans have speculated whether Aleister was merely helping Apollo Crews or screwing Big E for a purpose related to the story he has been telling for the past few weeks. It is more likely the latter, and Black will have to explain his actions on this week’s episode. However, the bigger question is: Who will actually win this feud (i.e. trilogy)?
Both superstars need a win and must be protected in defeat at this stage of their careers because Aleister Black needs to solidify his nascent character development while Big E has to solidify his spot in the main event scene after breaking away from The New Day last year. It seems that WWE may have dug itself in another hole because it has to find a way to protect both stars while still maintaining an engaging feud that has a meaningful direction. However, the silver lining to all of this is that Aleister Black could be the feud Big E needs to cement himself in the main event scene.
In his promos, Aleister Black set a goal to cull the herd on WWE SmackDown. Big E has to prove that he is not part of that herd. It could be the only way Big E can set himself apart from the other superstars on the roster in his pursuit for Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship. Although Aleister has not necessarily been booked with much credibility and consistency on the main roster, he has the capability to put Big E over as the biggest threat to the Universal Title.
