Karrion Kross recently won back the NXT Championship from Finn Balor after returning from injury. Kross and Balor had an excellent match at NXT: Stand and Deliver where Kross became a two-time NXT Champion.

Since then, Balor has gotten his rematch and was unsuccessful. At tonight’s NXT show there will be a triple threat match to see who will become the new number one contender. The participants are Johnny Gargano, Kyle O’Reilly, and Pete Dunne. Here is how they match up.

1. Johnny Gargano

Johnny Gargano is a former NXT Champion. He is also more recently, the former NXT North American Champion. Gargano has just finished his program with Bronson Reed. Reed pinned Gargano in a Steel Cage match to become the NXT North American Champion. Reed and Gargano had a great rivalry and it is time for Johnny Wrestling to get back into the NXT Championship picture.

2. Kyle O’ Reilly

Kyle O’Reilly is coming off of what is probably his most intense rivalry to date. He and former Undisputed Era running mate, Adam Cole are coming off of a very personal match where the two beat the hell out of each other. Kyle O’Reilly picked up the victory over Adam Cole and one has to think this elevates him to main event status.

3. Pete Dunne

In my opinion, Dunne is the dark horse in this match. Pete Dunne has been being built up in a big way though lately. Dunne has been having great matches with the likes of Finn Balor and Bobby Fish to just name a couple. He also is finishing up his rivalry with Bobby Fish and with how he has been built up, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him walk away with the win.

The person who I believe will be the next to challenge Karrion Kross is Pete Dunne. With how Dunne has been built up recently, he makes the most sense to go against Kross. Dunne is arguably on one of the best, if not the best run of his career. Pete Dunne vs Karrion Kross is the main event match waiting to happen. Tonight is the night I think NXT gives Dunne the nod.
