WWE NXT: The Million Dollar title belt returns
WWE NXT TakeOver: In Your House is a few days away, but before the NXT roster is to get to that point, there was one more night of wrestling to get through. Ember Moon had her eyes on Dakota Kai, Austin Theory, and Oney Lorcan were set for battle, and much more was planned throughout the card before yet another edition of NXT action on the WWE Network.
The first match of the night brought Theory out to face Lorcan in that one-on-one battle.
The match started with a traditional lockup, but it was not long before things were physical, with both men battling each other. Theory had the early advantage after a stiff dropkick in the corner, but once Lorcan took the match to the mat, he put the pain on Theory with his grappling.
Theory eventually found himself outside the ring and both men exchanged chops until ending back up in between the ropes. Pete Dunne and Johnny Gargano were out at ringside, increasing the volatility of this match. Lorcan was rolling until Theory hit a rolling Blockbuster coming out of the corner. Lorcan used some underhanded tactics to get back in control, taking the match outside the ring again where Theory turned it against him.
Dunne and Gargano ended up fighting outside the ring with referees running out to break it up. Theory was distracted by the fighting and Lorcan smashed his face into the ring post. He then hit a modified pancake in the ring to get the victory.
Oney Lorcan defeated Austin Theory via pinfall.
Isiah “Swerve” Scott was out to face Killian Dain in singles action, but the rest of Hit Row and Drake Maverick were outside the ring.
Dain’s power came into play early, knocking Scott to the mat with multiple shoulder blocks. Dain was rolling until another distraction causes him to turn his gaze, but Scott was there to land a series of kicks to his face.
Scott made the mistake of slapping Dain in the face, firing the big man up. Dain backed him into the corner and took over the pace of the match. Dain landed a crossbody, but Scott was able to kick out of the pin attempt. Scott stayed one step in front of Dain, landing a Flatliner, but he could not get the pin.
Maverick and the rest of Hit Row got involved outside the ring, opening room for Scott to take over, drilling Dain with another kick to the face. Scott picked up the victory via pinfall after that moment.
Isiah “Swerve” Scott defeated Killian Dain via pinfall.
Mercedes Martinez was heading down to compete but was attacked by Xia Li. They brawled for minutes but Martinez finally got into the ring against Cora Jade. The bell rang and she needed less than a minute to plant Jade with the Air Raid Crash to get the win.
Mercedes Martinez defeated Cora Jade via pinfall.
Tag team action was next as the Grizzled Young Veterans competed against Ikemen Jiro and August Gray.
GYV was rolling throughout this match, destroying their opponents in their quest to get back to the NXT tag team titles. Jiro found himself on the wrong side of the ring where Drake and Gibson took their turns targeting his legs.
Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher came down to the ring and caused enough of a distraction that Gray was able to go on a run. That did not last long as he quickly found himself getting a Ticket to Mayhem, allowing GYV to pick up the victory.
Grizzled Young Veterans defeated August Gray and Ikemen Jiro via pinfall.
The main event of the night featured Dakota Kai taking on Ember Moon in one-on-one action.
Moon and Kai went right after each other to start the match. Moon was able to push Kai back into the corner, bouncing her off the turnbuckle. But it was Kai who used the referee break to gain control. They ended up going blow for blow, and it was Moon that came out on top after a kick to Kai’s face. She planted Kai with a Flatliner from the knees, but Kai kicked out at two.
Kai used a savage post spot to drive Moon’s head directly into the post, nearly knocking the former champion unconscious. Moon would continue to fight back, but she struggled to get Kai off her. Moon landed an innovative move, with a somersault stunner, but Kai again kicked out at two. Kai planted Moon with a modified face planter and now it was Moon kicking out before the three counts. Moon hit an elevated powerbomb, but Kai would not keep her shoulders on the mat.
Moon would climb to the top rope to look for the Eclipse, but Raquel Gonzalez ran in to kick Moon in the face, knocking her from the top and giving Moon the win via disqualification.
