WWE: Top 10 greatest Intercontinental Champions of all-time
4. Razor Ramon
Razor Ramon is one of the greatest wrestlers to never win a World Championship in a major company. He isn’t the only wrestler on this list who’s deserving of such a distinction, but he’s earned it nonetheless.
Despite that being true, Razor Ramon proved just how incredible a talent he was by thriving as one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time.
In October of 1995, The Bad Guy became the first wrestler in history to win the Intercontinental Championship on four separate occasions. It wasn’t until May of 1999 that a second wrestler, Jeff Jarrett, achieved such a feat.
That should put just how significant Razor Ramon was to the growth and importance of the Intercontinental Championship into perspective.
For a time, it couldn’t exist without him.
Razor held the title for 434 recognized days, which ranks sixth all-time to this day. During both his reigns as champion and his pursuits of the belt, he put together a number of instant classics that helped define the legacy of the Intercontinental Title.
That includes mainstream classics such as his Ladder Match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 10, and the clinical opener at the 1995 Royal Rumble against Jarrett.
It also includes underrated gems such as his bouts with Diesel at SummerSlam 1994, his clash with Owen Hart on Monday Night Raw in January of 1995, and his bout with Goldust at the 1996 Royal Rumble.
It also includes the criminally overlooked rematch with Michaels at SummerSlam 1995—a 25-minute flagbearer.
The swagger, the wrestling, and the title—they all went hand in hand with Razor Ramon.
One of the few who lived up to the lofty standard that Randy Savage set as champion.
