WWE SmackDown Predictions: Roman Reigns Will Acknowledge John Cena

WWE SmackDown has competition now because Raw was actually decent this week. On this week’s WWE SmackDown, there are neither scheduled matches nor scheduled segments. However, it is expected that Roman Reigns will address the WWE Universe after decimating Rey Mysterio to retain his Universal Championship inside Hell in a Cell last week and that there will be a plethora of Money in the Bank qualifying matches to build up towards WWE MITB 2021.

Speaking of which, WWE is four weeks away from WWE Money in the Bank 2021. There are already four matches scheduled for this PPV event: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Kofi Kingston for the WWE Title, Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte for the Raw Women’s Title, Men’s MITB Ladder Match, and Women’s MITB Ladder Match. Four contestants will be qualifying for each ladder match on Raw’s end, so the same is expected for SmackDown’s side of things.

With that being addressed, it’s now time to preview and predict the matches and segments that will occur on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown is scheduled to take place on June 25, 2021, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT live on FOX. Here are some predictions for this week’s show.

There have been rumors roaming around about John Cena challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WWE SummerSlam 2021. If that is truly the plan, it would be in the WWE”s best interests to plant the seeds for that match early. Before anyone challenges Roman Reigns on the first SmackDown after HIAC, Roman Reigns should address these rumors and call back to his feud with John Cena at No Mercy 2017, where he decisively defeated him.

There’s no need for Roman to wait until Cena returns on the July 16, 2021 episode of WWE SmackDown. He can trash talk Cena week in and week out to acquire as much heel heat as he can. That way, when Cena returns in front of the crowd, he will get a huge pop from the fans who would be clamoring to see Cena take down Reigns. Many fans expect Mysterios to continue their feud with Reigns, but they should transition to the Usos and continue battling for the tag titles.
