WWE SummerSlam 2021 Foolproof Match Card Predictions

Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Keith Lee [WWE Title]

Keith Lee has not been seen on WWE television in a very long time. He was last seen on the February 8, 2021 episode of WWE Raw, which is when Bobby Lashley ‘injured’ him in storyline to write him off television before their triple threat U.S. Title Match with Riddle at WWE Elimination Chamber 2021. In fact, Keith Lee was reportedly rumored to dethrone Lashley for that U.S. Title before Lashley moved on to the main event scene. Henceforth, if Keith Lee returns in time for SummerSlam, his first feud should be with Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship.

Many naysayers may argue that the rumored matches of Bobby Lashley vs. Brock Lesnar or Bobby Lashley vs. Goldberg are more likely to happen. However, it is more rewarding and memorable for a full time superstar to return and fulfill his storyline with a rival than for a part timer to return for the cheap pop and ratings spike. Keith Lee was the first superstar on the main roster to break out of The Hurt Lock. He did so on the November 23, 2020 episode of WWE Raw and was on the verge of winning the match until MVP forced a disqualification.

Running this match back with a special stipulation to counteract MVP’s interference and book a definitive finish would confirm that Lee was the one to defeat Lashley all along. Raw has a serious babyface problem, which will get worse if the rumors of Drew McIntyre being traded to SmackDown are true. Henceforth, booking Lee to dethrone Lashley here would solidify his spot as the new top babyface on the red brand for the time being. Lee already knew how to compete on a main event level during his NXT days, so this would be ideal booking for him at SummerSlam.

Foolproof Prediction: Keith Lee

Roman Reigns (c) vs. Big E [Universal Title]

Forget the Roman Reigns vs. John Cena rumors. Roman Reigns vs. Big E for the Universal Championship should be the main event of SummerSlam. Elevating a full-time rising star to the main event scene is a more beneficial booking strategy for the future of this company than bringing back a part-time established all-star for star power and mainstream appeal. Big E has been stuck in the mid card and tag division for more than ten years in this company. He was separated from The New Day in the draft to earn his singles push, and he needs the exposure now.

Big E is not ready to defeat Roman Reigns at SummerSlam, but he needs this match to cement his main event status. He has excelled in his tag title reigns and IC Title reigns. Now is the time to put his main event status to the test. Roman has slayed all of the top babyfaces on SmackDown, except Big E, who has already planted the seeds on Talking Smack with Paul Heyman for a future Universal Title Match with Reigns at WrestleMania 38. However, that match at Mania 38 does not need to be their first bout for the Universal Title because that needs to be the moment Big E wins.

Big E needs to fight Reigns now to learn what it takes to battle in the main event scene. That way, when he wins the Royal Rumble in 2022 and battles Reigns again at WrestleMania 38, he will be ready to defeat Reigns and become the new Universal Champion. Big E can be the next undeniable face of this company as long as the fans get behind him. However, there is no doubt that Reigns will walk into SummerSlam and out of SummerSlam as the ‘reigns’ing, defending, undisputed, Universal Heavyweight Champion. That’s not a prediction. That’s a foolproof prediction.
