WWE SummerSlam 2021 Rapid Fire Match Card Predictions
By Mark Justice
Nikki ASH (c) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair [Raw Women’s Title; Triple Threat Match]
This title match really should be Nikki ASH (c) vs. Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Title due to their history together. They have battled before as Bliss Cross Applesauce, but it would have been neat to see them battle with their new gimmicks. Nikki ASH being the superhero and Alexa Bliss being the supervillain would have been the perfect feud for a stage like SummerSlam.
This scheduled triple threat match could have been done on Raw to solidify Nikki ASH’s title reign and lead to a one-on-one match between Ripley and Charlotte, in which Ripley finally beats “The Opportunity”.
Nonetheless, as for the winner of this match, Nikki ASH will retain because her premature reign needs to be solidified with this victory. It makes zero sense to give the title back to Charlotte or Ripley here.
The argument can be made that the title should go to Ripley since she is more over with the crowd as the babyface. The argument can also be made that the title should go to Charlotte to set up the Becky Lynch return feud. However, those booking decisions would just make the Raw Women’s Title less prestigious and the Women’s MITB Cash-In this year worthless.
Rapid Fire Prediction: Nikki ASH
Bianca Belair (c) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Toni Storm vs. Carmella vs. Liv Morgan vs. Zelina Vega [SmackDown Women’s Title: 6-Pack Challenge]
Although many fans would prefer a one-on-one title rematch between Belair and Banks, Belair vs. Banks really should be a once-in-a-lifetime match due to how special it was at ‘Mania. Doing it again at SummerSlam would be a disservice to that moment and possibly run this feud to the ground.
Of course, both superstars are capable of making this feud better but it’s not as likely under WWE’s systemic booking. This six-pack challenge would be a great way to set up some new women’s feuds after SummerSlam, such as Sasha Banks vs. Liv Morgan and Toni Storm vs. Carmella.
As for the winner of this match, Sasha Banks will win to solidify her heel turn on Belair. Banks should have retained the title at WrestleMania 37 and dropped the title to Belair at SummerSlam. However, it seems that WWE’s booking route here is the antithesis of that.
If Belair retains, that would also be great. Naomi, who was recently traded to SmackDown, can then attack Belair after the match with a heel turn of her own, join the Bloodline, and be the one to dethrone Belair as a way of continuing the Bloodline’s momentum on the blue brand.
Rapid Fire Prediction: Sasha Banks
