On Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles and started their long journey together as a tag team. Although it has worked for a while, isn’t it time for them to split up?

Baszler and Jax helped elevate the women’s tag team division with their two title reigns, allowing more focus to be held on the women’s division as a whole. With the titles now more featured on SmackDown is it time for both superstars to return to their solo runs?

This past year, Baszler has picked up more losses than in her entire career in WWE and it all stems from being tied to Jax and her former friend, Reginald. This alliance served its purpose when the pair held the gold but now it is becoming more damaging.

It is long past time for Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax to split up.

The former two-time NXT Women’s Champion is one of the most dominant in-ring competitors on Raw. Her joint manipulation and ability to cinch in a submission hold out of nowhere means that she can get wins over most people, no matter their size or strength. Baszler has been out of the title picture for so long and it’s now time to start thinking about winning gold for herself.

Baszler’s unique style works the best when she is able to compete in longer matches, the long process of consistently attacking a limb until she finishes with a submission is when she can really tell a story and create a fantastic match.

With tag-team wrestling, it is much harder to tell that story, constantly tagging in and out and losing momentum when your opponent is changing doesn’t allow for the same effect. Even when she has competed in singles matches against other members of rival tag teams, there isn’t the time to produce the matches that she is capable of delivering.

Fans of Baszler from her time in NXT know what she can produce and that she should be competing at a higher level. As SummerSlam is just around the corner, a separation could cause them to face each other soon, which would be a great match as both are such dominant forces in the ring. The time is ticking on this team; how long until this finally ends?
