WWE NXT: Carmelo Hayes uses contract to become NXT North American Champion
WWE NXT is all about new names and faces within the brand. Yet another edition of the show and there was more to see, including the debut match of Ivy Nile and a big bout between Isiah Scott and Santos Escobar for the NXT North American Title.
Tommaso Ciampa and Joe Gacy started out the match with an opportunity for Gacy to be added to the title match coming up at Halloween Havoc.

They start the match with a face-off, as the fans chant to support Ciampa. Ciampa strikes first, but Gacy answers with a shoulder block, which leads to a two-count. Gacy remained in control and the two men ended up going back and forth until Gacy landed a backbreaker for another pin attempt.
While Gacy was rolling he sees that Harland is in the crowd. The distraction was enough to allow Ciampa to turn things around, landing knees in the corner. His offense continues until Gacy escapes outside the ring, with Ciampa following. They exchange face smashes into the announce table and head back into the ring where Ciampa continues to roll.

Gacy counters to take back control and hits a running splash into the corner. He then uses the Uranage to get a two-count. Ciampa attempts to roll outside, only to eat a senton for his trouble. Ciampa follows him outside again and hits multiple clotheslines. Gacy blocks the Air Raid Crash, and they trade shots in the middle of the ring. Gacy hits a powerbomb, but only for a two-count.
Gacy misses a moonsault but is able to block the Air Raid Crash again. He doesn’t stop the Fairy Tale Ending and Ciampa picks up the victory.
Tommaso Ciampa defeated Joe Gacy via pinfall.
Malik Blade and Xyon Quinn had a singles match.
The two men lock up and size each other up, but the bigger Quinn has the advantage first. He lands a body slam to drop Blade in the center of the ring. He then follows that up with shoulder thrusts in the corner, then an Irish whip into the other corner across the ring.
Blade fights back and hits some of his offense, including a corner clothesline for a two-count. Quinn answers with a chokeslam and calls for the finish. He followed that up with a Superman Forearm to get the victory.
Xyon Quinn defeated Malik Blade via pinfall.
Ivy Nile had her first match as a member of Diamond Mind on Tuesday. Her grappling came into play right out the gate against Royce Perez. Nile caught Perez in a cross body and lifted her into a vertical suplex with ease. Nile was easily overpowering Perez, throwing her into the bottom turnbuckle.
Perez fought back, getting to her feet but Nile immediately cut her momentum short, planting her with a body slam. She rolled through to a tried to lift Perez up, but Perez fought back, only to get lifted into a torture rack. Bending Royce over her shoulder she was forced to submit, giving the victory to Nile.

Ikemen Jiro and Julius Creed ended up in a surprise match.
Creed was rolling well throughout this match, overpowering Jiro with ease. That didn’t stop Jiro from landing his own offense, including shots to the face, and knocking Creed to his back. Jiro also dropped Creed with two boots to the face and a unique splash off the stop for a one-count.
Creed rolled outside the ring, but that didn’t save him from Jiro’s springboard moonsault to the floor. Creed rolled back inside and caught Jiro in mid-air, planting him on the mat. A basement clothesline finished off Jiro, giving Creed the victory.
Julius Creed defeated Ikemen Jiro via pinfall.
Tag team action was next, with Kyle O’Reilly and Von Wagner taking on Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland.
Wagner and Dunne started things off with Wagner in control early. He latched himself to Wagner’s arm, but Dunne found himself upside down in a vertical suplex. Wagner made the pin attempt, but Dunne kicked out. That brought in O’Reilly and Holland via tags and they kept the action in the ring.
O’Reilly landed some strikes, but made the mistake of a low single, where Holland countered with a stiff knee to the back of the head. After that, O’Reilly was launched over head via a belly-to-belly suplex. Holland tagged out to Dunne who went to the submission game to wear O’Reilly out.
Holland and Dunne continued to make quick tags to isolate O’Reilly on their side of the ring. O’Reilly was able to fight back though, taking both men down on his own. He then landed an elbow in the corner, and smashed Dunne in the face with forearms when he tried to counter.
Wagner and Holland were tagged in and the big men started slugging on each other in the middle of the ring. Neither man budged until Wagner hit a shoulder block, then knocked Holland over the top rope. Holland took advantage of the moment and tossed Wagner into the steel steps.
Back in the ring, Dunne and Holland were in control again, this time teaming up on O’Reilly. Dunne went for a pin attempt and Wagner had to save things. That distraction allowed O’Reilly to get enough space, but Wagner was not in the corner to make the tag. Dunne went for a head kick but O’Reilly countered with a toe hold. Holland tagged in and laid out O’Reilly, tossing him to the floor. Wagner made the save outside the ring, and O’Reilly was finally able to make the tag.
Wagner comes back in and takes out Holland with elbows and knees. He directed O’Reilly to take out Dunne on the floor, while he finished off Holland, planting him in the middle of the ring to get the victory.
Von Wagner and Kyle O’Reilly defeated Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland via pinfall.
Duke Hudson versus Grayson Waller was up next.
Waller had to stick to his speed but that only worked so far because once Hudson got his hands on Waller the tide of the match changed. Hudson backed Waller into the corner and laid into him with shots to the body, before being tossed to the other side of the ring.
Waller was able to get some more offense back in, including the stunner and an attempted pinfall, but it did not work out in his favor. Waller went for another springboard but Hudson hit the ropes, calling Waller to fly back. Hudson jumped on the pin with his tights hooked to get the victory.

Duke Hudson defeated Grayson Waller via pinfall.
Women’s tag team action was next with Persia Pirotta and Indi Hartwell taking on Sarray and Armani Miller.
Hartwell and Sarray were up first and Hartwell was taking over but Sarray found a way to counter and get the tag to Miller. Miller floored Hartwell with a series of kicks Hartwell was able to shake Miller off and got the tag to Pirotta. She ran through Miller with a series of clotheslines, before spiking her on the top rope. She got the tag back to Hartwell and landed a boot on Sarray as well. Hartwell came in with the elbow drop to give their team the win.

Persia Pirotta and Indi Hartwell defeated Sarray and Armani Miller via pinfall.
The main event was Isiah Scott against Santos Escobar for the NXT North American Title.
Scott jumped Escobar before the bell sounded, attacking him outside the ring. Scott continued attacking him on the floor. The assault remained tense inside the ring, where Scott landed a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker into a quick pin attempt.
Escobar finally got some offense going his way, tripping Scott on the apron, causing him to fall to the floor. That was followed up with a suicide dive, sending Scott into the announce team. Escobar was in complete control of the champion back inside the ring, slowing things down to continue to punish him. Escobar mocked Scott along the way, locking in a submission move but Scott found a way back to his feet.
Scott and Escobar exchanged shots in the middle of the ring with Escobar getting the early advantage until he was hit with a clothesline. Scott was rolling but was hit with a counter Flatliner for a two-count. Escobar landed two knees to Scott’s chest and took him up to the top rope for a Hurricanrana. Escobar hit a frog splash for a two-count.
Scott drove Escobar into the corner of the apron and went to the top rope for a 450 splash but Escobar countered with the knees. Scott was still able to kick out of the pinfall. Escobar went of the Phantom Driver but the move was broken up. Scott was able to avoid Escobar who hit the exposed turnbuckle and that allowed Scott to plant Escobar with the victory.
Isiah Scott defeated Santos Escobar via pinfall.
Carmelo Hayes made his appearance to save Scott during the match, and he signed his Breakout Tournament contract for an immediate shot. Scott tried to fight back, landing a big right hand to get some space from Hayes. He charged out of the corner into a pump kick and Hayes went to the top to hit the leg drop across the head. Hayes pinned Scott to take the North American Title.
