It was over a year ago when Kyle O’Reilly faced Finn Balor for the NXT Championship. O’Reilly lost the match, but it looked like things are going up in his future in NXT and maybe even WWE because they are positioning him as a key player on the roster. It looked like he could’ve been NXT Champion down the road.

But a year later, he’s been knocked down a peg as he is not in the consideration to challenge any singles title at the moment. However, a month from now, he is going to be a free agent since his contract expires in December. He will have a lot of options to go anywhere.

 What are Kyle O’Reilly’s options?

His first option is to stay with NXT. He can still team up with Von Wagner. They could win the NXT tag team titles. Even though they are an awkward pairing, they could improve their chemistry. The only reason why both wrestlers are teaming up is so O’Reilly can boost up Wagner’s position in NXT. That’s why they took O’Reilly out of the NXT Championship match and replaced him with Wagner.

Another option for O’Reilly is re-signing with WWE and calling up to the main roster. He’s been on the NXT roster since 2017. If he isn’t going to be in the singles title picture any time soon, then it’s time for him to move on to Monday Night Raw or Friday Night Smackdown.

And the option that a lot of fans would like him to do is sign a contract with All Elite Wrestling. He can team up with his long-time tag team partner Bobby Fish and bring back reDRagon. They could also reunite Fish and O’Reilly with Adam Cole even though they could not use the Undisputed Era name.

 Where should Kyle O’Reilly go?

With all the options O’Reilly have, the decision that he should make is to sign with AEW. Ever since WWE rebranded NXT to NXT 2.0, O’Reilly’s position on the brand decreased. He was in a couple of NXT title matches a year ago. Then he had a blood feud with Cole. Once they took him out of the NXT title match, he was doomed. That is why the team of O’Reilly and Wagner feels like his role on the brand is a demotion.

After he beat Cole, it looks like he would be one of the faces of the brand. But then the NXT reboot happened. And since they are pushing bigger guys instead of the smaller wrestler who started their careers in the indies, O’Reilly does not fit with the brand anymore. If he got called up to the main roster, he will most likely have the same problem on Raw or Smackdown because he’s a smaller wrestler.

If he signs with AEW, he can team up with Fish again and win the tag team titles. They can reform Undisputed Era with Cole even though they would need another name. After that, O’Reilly can be a singles wrestler.

He will have an easier time to become a top singles champion in AEW than he would’ve in WWE or even NXT. He will get over with the crowd in AEW because they will like his style of wrestling as well as his personality.

Since the contract of Kyle O’Reilly is expiring in a couple of weeks, he will have multiple options to think about. One option is that he stays in NXT or goes to the main roster. He could also just wrestle in the indies for now. But what he should do is sign a contract with AEW because he will have a lot more success in the company than anywhere else.
