Raw vs. SmackDown, the battle for brand supremacy, the show where we see champions vs. champions, plus the 5-on-5 elimination matches, Survivor Series usually leads to lots of excitement, in the build-up and during the PPV.

There wasn’t a great build to the event this year and it wasn’t as exciting as a result. It wasn’t the best Survivor Series PPV that we’ve had, either. However, it wasn’t all bad; there were some good decisions made and some real highlights from the show.

Here are three things that went right at Survivor Series.

Big E vs Roman Reigns

This match is up there for match of the year in WWE. Both superstars looked equally strong coming out of it and it was highly entertaining. Big E becoming the WWE Champion was the biggest moment in his career and it would have been easy to let Roman Reigns have a dominant victory over Big E but that’s not what happened.

We witnessed 25 minutes of amazing storytelling and amazing wrestling. Heyman starting the match off by reminding Reigns who he is was just amazing, setting up the story perfectly. The back and forth in the first few minutes was able to really showcase both of WWE’s main champions.

The frustration from Reigns wasn’t overdone; it was at just the right level to make it entertaining. The end of the match had so much drama and really great believable near-falls. The spear to the outside and then Reigns’ big spear and pin was one of my highlights during the match. You could hear the energy from the crowd during every pin. It was so well put together and both superstars really worked hard.

Bianca Belair is the sole survivor

If anyone can beat a 4-on-1 disadvantage, it is going to be Bianca Belair. Although I think the SmackDown women’s team should have won, seeing Belair defeat all the women in front of her made me smile, and with the run she has been on for the past year, it makes sense.

Since she lost the title to Becky Lynch, she has been on a bit of a losing streak as she tried to regain the gold. Her win at Survivor Series could really help propel her back in the right direction. This is another big achievement to add to her collection.

Becky getting the win over Charlotte Flair

This match was amazing and exceeded everyone’s expectations. I didn’t think they would be able to make this match more interesting and different compared to their previous encounters but this was really great.

They went back and forth during this match, showing just how well they know each other. I wasn’t a fan of the ending — it seemed unnecessary — but overall, I really enjoyed the match and it was a great opener for the show.

This was bigger than Survivor Series and I’m glad there was a platform for them to have another really good match. Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair definitely proved why they are the top two women in WWE.
