WWE Day 1 2022 Rapid Fire Match Card Predictions
By Mark Justice
WWE Day 1! This PPV is still five weeks away. Although there are plenty of contrived storylines being built, there are some potential show-stealing matches on this card that will be thrilling to watch. The following will provide five matches that will be added to the card in the following weeks. According to WWE’s official website, the WWE has not announced any matches for this PPV, so it’s the best time to predict 5 matches that will be booked for WWE Day 1.
WWE Day 1 will take place on January 1, 2022, at 8 p.m. E.S.T., live on the WWE Network. Here are the full match card predictions.
RKBro (c) vs. Dirty Dawgs vs. AJ Styles & Omos vs. Street Profits [Raw Tag Team Championships]
Now that WWE is on the road to WrestleMania 38, it is time for RKBro to break up and kickstart their inevitable WrestleMania program. They should lose the titles at this PPV so that they can plant the seeds for their feud at the Royal Rumble by eliminating each other.
Since it would be eminently asinine to give the titles back to AJ Styles and Omos, the next tag champions should either be Dirty Dawgs, who are currently feuding with RKBro, or Street Profits, who are currently feuding with AJ and Omos.
Combining those feuds into a fatal four way would be a smart way to protect RKBro in defeat once Orton turns on Riddle. Street Profits would be the ideal victors here since they can transition to a fresh tag feud with Apollo Crews and Commander Azeez on the road to WrestleMania.
Prediction: Street Profits
Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Toni Storm [SmackDown Women’s Championship]
Charlotte Flair and Toni Storm have already planted the seeds for their title match at this PPV. Once Charlotte retains the title against Toni Storm, she will very likely defend the title against Sasha Banks at the Royal Rumble because Sasha challenged Charlotte during the title exchange segment a month ago and WWE never followed through on that title match. No one else is built to battle Charlotte for the title at the Rumble, so the established Banks would be the ideal opponent.
Prediction: Charlotte Flair
Becky Lynch (c) vs. Liv Morgan [Raw Women’s Championship]
Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan have already planted the seeds for their title match at this PPV. Once Lynch retains the title against Morgan, she will very likely defend the title against Bianca Belair at the Royal Rumble because Belair still has unfinished business with Lynch after the screwy finish in their last title match. Her victory as sole survivor means that she will get back in the title picture. Belair is currently feuding with DouDrop, but that is just a filler feud to continue her momentum.
Prediction: Becky Lynch
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Sami Zayn [Universal Championship]
Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn have never battled in WWE history. Since Zayn’s contract is expiring soon, it should come to no one’s surprise that WWE has finally ‘realized’ his main event potential and booked him to win last week’s Black Friday Battle Royal to earn a world title opportunity against Reigns. WWE is doing same with Kevin Owens against Big E (more on that later). Reigns will inevitably retain here and move on to Hardy, McIntyre and/or Lesnar on the road to Mania.
Prediction: Roman Reigns
Big E (c) vs. Kevin Owens [WWE Championship]
Big E and Kevin Owens have already planted the seeds for their title match at this PPV. Once Big E retains the title against Owens, he will very likely defend the title against Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble because Rollins won a number one contender’s ladder match to battle E for the championship. Since Rollins is a former Royal Rumble Winner like Bianca Belair, he would be fitting for a title match at the Royal Rumble in what would be an NXT Title rematch from 2013.
Prediction: Big E
