Rumors of an injury to Sasha Bank began to spread a week ago when she was seen being helped from the ring at a Fayetteville, North Carolina house show. Today, the injury was confirmed.

In a match against Charlotte Flair at a house show in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Banks appeared to injure her knee when she landed awkwardly after a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. The Wrestling Observer reported that after discussion with the referee, they went right to a finish, and then the referee threw up the “x” sign, indicating that Banks was injured.

Initially, as indicated, it was thought that Banks injured her knee. However, it turns out that it was her foot that was hurt in the exchange. Banks would later tweet that she was okay after the match:

Her comment likely had to do with the fact that nothing was broken, and she bruised the calcaneus bone, which is a bone in her heel. Thankfully, the injury was not as serious as initially thought, and she should be back in action in 6-8 weeks, according to WWE.com.

Banks is one of the biggest stars in WWE’s women’s division, so losing her, even for a short period of time could hurt their plans for a few weeks. While Sasha recovers, there is a  question of who WWE will use to replace her, as there are not many clear candidates. Though it is WWE’s fault that they are in the position in the first place, having released many talents and not positioning others to be stars.

Banks will be back relatively soon though, which is good news for WWE and for her fans. In the meantime, we wish her the best in her recovery and hope to see her on TV again soon.
