WrestleMania 38 has come and gone. The showcase didn’t seemingly have a lot of momentum heading into the event, but the two-night spectacle delivered some moments that will be remembered for years to come. Roman Reigns is the undisputed WWE Universal Champion and Cody Rhodes has returned after a successful run in All Elite Wrestling. Monday Night Raw had a lot of energy heading into what should be the starting point of a lot of new angles and developments.
The night started out with Rhodes, whose music hit as fans erupted into cheers. Rhodes started out telling a story about his departure from AEW to return to WWE. Not only did he talk about his return to the WWE, but also about his father, Dusty Rhodes.

Rhodes spoke adamantly that his father was never the WWE Champion and he wanted to reach that goal for his family. Seth Rollins interrupted him. Neither man said anything, as they shook hands out of a display of respect.
The new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Naomi and Sasha Banks were out to the ring next to celebrate their title victory. They were facing off against Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley in a contenders’ match.
Ripley and Naomi started out the match, with Ripley immediately showing off her strength. She lifted Naomi upside-down in a vertical suplex for 45-seconds before dropping her down. Naomi was able to kick out at two. Naomi was able to fight back, staggering Ripley before tagging out to Banks.

Back from the commercial with Naomi isolated on the wrong side of the ring. She was able to land a big kick that knocked Ripley to the ground. Naomi made the tag and attacked Morgan with a takedown and knees in the corner. Morgan kicked out of the Meteora at two. Morgan went for a series of rollups but dropped Banks with an enziguri. They hit some tag offense on Banks, but she barely kicked out. The champions were able to get the finish when they hit a rolling codebreaker for the win.
Sasha Banks and Naomi defeated Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan via pinfall.
Kevin Owens was out immediately after and he spoke about his match with Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania. He had a list of excuses to why Austin was able to defeat him. He was interrupted by Ezekiel, who turned out to be Elias, potentially. He was clearly Elias but playing up the idea that he was his “younger brother.”

Ziggler slapped Breakker twice before the opening bell. He would immediately drive Ziggler back into the corner before throwing him over his head with ease. He chased Ziggler outside but he was cut off, giving Ziggler the advantage. After a big elbow, Breakker kicked out at two. Ziggler tried a leapfrog but was planted in the middle of the ring.
Breakker followed that up with a slingshot into the rope. Ziggler crotched Breakker on the top rope, following up with a dropkick that knocked him to the floor. Back from commercial and Ziggler was still in control, with Breakker barely kicking out. Breakker countered the Fameasser with a powerbomb.
Breakker hit a series of shoulder blocks and another overhead suplex before hitting the Steiner line. Roode made the distraction and Ziggler tried to use that to roll him up. Ziggler pounced on the distraction from Roode again and hit the Fameasser but only got to a two count. Ziggler countered out of the press slam and hit a superkick for a two count. Ziggler went for another superkick but Breakker smashed him with a spear. That led to the press slam for the victory.
Bron Breakker defeated Dolph Ziggler to become the WWE NXT Champion.
MVP and Bobby Lashley were out next. Lashley was talking about his victory at WrestleMania before Omos walked out to the ring. Omos demanded a rematch but before it could start MVP attacked from behind.

Queen Zelina and Carmella were out next for tag action. But before the tag match could happen, Zelina and Carmella end up brawling.
Six-man tag action was next. Finn Balor teamed with RK-Bro against The Usos and Austin Theory.
Balor started the match off and was rolling until Jimmy Uso rocked his chin. Balor countered with a basement dropkick for a one count. Matt Riddle tagged in but was quickly isolated in the wrong corner. Right when Riddle tried to get his momentum, Theory cut it out front under him outside the ring.
Back from commercial and Riddle was fighting back to his feet. Riddle was finally able to get over to Orton to make the tag, quickly fighting off all three opponents. Theory made a blind tag and cut Orton off with a rolling dropkick before the RKO. Balor missed the coup de grace, but countered the ATL.

The Street Profits were out next for tag team action against Alpha Academy. The two teams started brawling and that caused the match to shift into a Texas Tornado match. The action picked up quickly with Montez Ford diving over onto all three. Alpha Academy had the early advantage of the match, with Gable hitting a fisherman’s suplex before they were able to isolate Dawkins with an attack on the knee.
Out of commercial both Gable and Otis were hitting suplexes, moonsaults, and Vader Bombs. But both men were able to kick out. A table was brought into play but did not work out like planned. Gable found himself on the table and that allowed Ford to hit a big frog splash for the victory.
