Rosemont’s Allstate Arena hosts WWE Hell in a Cell this Sunday. Six matches are set for the show – more may follow after Friday’s go-home episode of SmackDown.

Cody Rhodes versus Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins III inside Hell in a Cell, Bobby Lashley facing Omos & Montel Vontavious Porter in a Handicap match, and Bianca Belair defending her Raw Women’s Championship against Asuka and Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat match – are some of the bouts on the card.

Mustafa Ali attempts to win his first championship in WWE when challenges Theory for the United States Championship. Now he has returned to television, after six months on the shelf due to creative differences, Ali should be pushed as a top babyface – considering WWE’s lack of depth in that department.

With that said – below is why Ali should beat Theory for the US title at Hell in a Cell.

After becoming frustrated with his position in WWE – Mustafa Ali asked for his release in January 2022. In a bold move, Ali went public with his decision, posting an explanation on Twitter. Vince McMahon denied his request – leaving the 36-year-old in limbo. Ali took to social media again a month later – informing his supporters they would not see him for “two and a half years” – indicating that was how long he had left on his contract.

That time frame for his next appearance ended up being two months later as Ali made a shocking return on the April 25th edition of Monday Night Raw. Ali confronted Theory and The Miz on that show – defeating the latter in an impromptu match. The WWE Universe was happy to see Ali return – serenading him with “welcome back” chants. This was a feel-good moment – a fresh start for the former 205 Live standout.

Ali faced “The A-Lister” later that night, however, his attention was on Theory and the United States Championship. Ali wanted a title shot, but Theory was reluctant to give him one, claiming he did not deserve it.

Vince McMahon’s protégé used the Chairman’s power to put Ali in matches against Veer Mahaan, a Handicap bout with The Miz as his partner, and Ciampa. Theory interfered during Ali’s match with Ciampa – causing a disqualification. After the bell, Theory finally gave Ali a shot at the gold, beating him in less than two minutes. After witnessing that injustice – WWE Official Adam Pearce granted Ali a fair opportunity at the US title at Sunday’s premium live event.

The master of the 054 has been through a lot in the last 12 months, but that has not disheartened him. That drive – plus the fact he was a police officer and is a family man – should make him a top star in WWE, but McMahon has not seen the light yet.

During his impasse with the company, Ali had unwavering support from fans, and his popularity skyrocketed. The WWE Universe wants him to succeed.

Theory has a big future ahead of him – he shared the ring with WWE legend ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin on night two of WrestleMania 38. Dropping the US title to Ali would not stunt his growth – Ali needs this more.

Ali’s backstory makes him an ideal candidate for US champion. We saw glimpses of what he is capable of when he had great matches with Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Randy Orton on SmackDown in 2019 before he suffered an unfortunate injury.

Through no fault of his own – Ali has not reached his full potential in Stamford. Winning the US title in his hometown at Hell in a Cell would be a step in the right direction. Hopefully – the people in power agree and give him the moment he deserves.
